Starland Conflicted
To be honest i am a little conflicted here...
If the band was SUPPOSED to be there then that would have been a great surprise....however...unless there was gonna be the same level of rarities...then i might have to say, and i never thought i would...that i preferred just jbj bc what happened was historic and may lead to more of it if we can somehow communicate how much better at least SOME shakeup in the setlist is... and i am pretty sure they only practiced for like one day...i know kenny was constantly looking at lighted drum music and jbj mentioned the "5 headaches" referring to the band and kinda joked himself humbly when introducing the bass player who he said he put thru the ringer leading up to the show... So if you had to choose: the whole band surprise or what happened... ...and discuss... Ok apparantly this is too confusing...im basically asking - if the original intention was for the whole band to come to starland and didnt bc the mastercard show appeared on the scene... do you wish the whole band came or are you glad instead that you got a jbj rariety show ...and discuss.... |
Didn't understand the majority of that post tbh.
I hope the band do this gig. |
If we're talking about yesterday, it was obviously historic and am happy with how it turned out.

What? I'd sooner go to a band gig if that's what you mean?

i tried again...

Aloha !
I'd rather have the full band do a rarities gig but chances are big that it'll end up like another greatest hits show. This Jon show is nice, but his band is awful and many songs sounded dreadful. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

Very interesting question, Marc, and I'm amazed at the answer I'm going to give. If you'd asked me this question before the show, I'm absolutely positive that I'd have answered differently.
I'd take the show we got . . . no doubt about it. :shocked!: I bet if the whole band had been there, we'd have gotten the usual songs with a few (or maybe even a handful) of gems thrown in. I really doubt that we'd have gotten the incredible trip down memory lane that was probably inspired by the Roots of Rock promotion. I thought it was a beautifully and very thoughtfully crafted setlist, and I have no complaints about the band. They were terrific. Kenny Aronoff and Everett Bradley were great fun to watch. Too bad they don't enjoy what they do! LOL And you just can't go wrong with a bunch of Jukes for the rest of the band. JBJ talks about Jovi being a "bar band" all the time. This time he was playing with a genuine bar band extraordinaire! Of course, the irony of this whole scenario is that I'm sure the "memory lane" show was much better received by the fan club than by the MC crowd! Whatever -- it worked for me. :D There is one little change that I'd have made in the show, and it will sound like sacrilege. As far as I'm concerned Wanted needs Richie. There's just no way around it. So without Richie, I'd opt for no Wanted. I'm sure that's just me, though. |
