My mum and big sister went to see them on Friday, they loved it. I'm dissapointed I didn't get to go, but my mum brought me back a cool t-shirt,so that's a positive.:cool:

The stage was awesome but I don't think they made the most of it and they threw in a lot of stuff from the new album.

If they'd have utilised the claw thing better (particularly with the video) and done a greatest hits set it would definitely have been in my top 5.

Yes but they are touring the new album, aren't they? I really like the fact they do lots of the new songs and not just 3 or 4 and then all their hits.

Okay, U2 just finished the show about 2 hours ago.

It's very rare I agree with Seb about anything...but what the ****?? This is supposed to be the biggest band in the world???

Admittedly I don't really know any of their new stuff too well, but I have heard it, and it's rubbish. I was hoping perhaps live it would sound better, it doesn't! For those of you slagging off Jovi's new song, I would say it's about a hundred times better than any of the guff U2 were pulling out tonight.

The highlight of the evening for me was I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and Bono was struggling to sing the first verse of that.

Other than that...meh!!

Props for the stage set up - it's ****ing spectacular.

The set started with 2 really, quite mid tempo songs to open a gig with. Not sure what they were. City Of Blinding Lights should have been good with all their flashy tech around, but it was average. The Edge did a guitar solo somewhere that almost put me to sleep. And Bono was terrible during With Or Without You, and that's my favourite song, but I felt he murdered it. And then they finished with some dirge.

There were a few good songs in there - but for a band of U2's stature, I expect a gig full of good if not mind blowing performances.

Linkin Park was better and they almost bored me to death!

The Red Hot Chilli's were better.

I'm even debating if REM was better.

Where's the U2 vs Bon Jovi thread again, because U2 aren't even fit to wash Obie's hot rod.

I didn't think Bono was that bad actually but as a total gear head I thought the sound check where the guitar tech played pretty much every famous edge riff to check that it was all set up right said a lot about U2.

For all of their pomp and Bono prancing around like a preacher, it's all too clinical. If those guitars weren't set up exactly right then they couldn't play...

If they didn't have the stage set up it would have been a fairly good gig where they belt out some hits and then lose the plot playing their new MoR crap.


What Andy pertained to is pretty spot on. Bon Jovi get ragged on big time but out of the "biggest bands in the world" contenders I've seen pretty much all of them.

In fact I've seen all of them at least twice and bon jovi and bruce bring the rock every single time and know exactly what their audience want whereas the rest either aren't that great live or just go through the motions.

Yeah dude, me and J were in the top tier.

Just really disappointed in them - she was the same (but as she's a Jovi fan too that's probably why). But even during One, which is a song you'd expect the stadium to erupt into a huge sing-a-long too (I well remember being blown away by I'll Be The For You in 2001 in seats the exact same spot) and it was just bleh. In fact, dunno' about your section but there were people sitting down for the entire gig - not just a few - a lot of people. That would never happen at a BJ show.

I was in the North stand right in front of stage right about level with the drum riser.

Excellent seats (and they should have been considering how much they were supposed to cost :o )

The atmos was OK where i was but I've seen much much better even at a Robbie Williams gig there.


The stadium was dead because of the Celtic game. I'd be surprised if there were over 40,000 people there.

Saw them last night at Sheffield and loved it. The stage and lighting is amazing, never seen anything like it before. Only disappointment was that they opened and finished with unknown songs from Horizon, but the middle part of the set was just hit after hit. Hightlights were stuck in a moment, streets have no name, with or without you and one. WELL worth the £60 for me, loved Elbow as the support act. No gold circle shit either, the ones who braved it from daft o clock just got a wrist band for the pit (I didnt but had a great view just behind)

I actually followed the concert via radio broadcast and it sounded SO well. Even better than last weekend at Wembley. I do like the opening song (well they are not unknown to me as I love Horizon) but don't like Surrender to end it as I said before (even many die hard fans do not like it) but well...that didn't spoil the great show it was.
