Here is what the 4 title contenders need in order to win the 2010 WDC.........

Fernando Alonso
- A victory or second place in UAE will ensure he wins his third World title regardless of what the other contenders do
- If Webber wins, he needs to finish P2
- If Webber finishes P2, he needs to finish at least P5
- If Webber finishes P3, he needs to finish at least P6
- If Webber finishes P4, he needs to finish at least P8
- If Webber finishes P5, he needs to finish at least P9
- If Vettel wins, he needs to finish at least P4
- If Vettel finishes P2, he needs to finish at least P8

Mark Webber
- Webber can't afford to finish lower than fifth if he wants to stand any chance of winning his maiden Championship
- If he wins, Alonso needs to finish no higher than P3
- If he finishes P2, Alonso needs to finish no higher than P6 and Vettel no higher than P2
- If he finishes P3, Alonso needs to finish no higher than P7 and Vettel no higher than P2
- If he finishes P4, Alonso needs to be finish no higher than P9 and Vettel no higher than P2
- If he finishes P5, Alonso needs to finish P10 and Vettel no higher than P3

Sebastian Vettel
- Any position lower than second will see him finish the season empty handed
- If he wins, he needs Alonso to finish P5 or lower
- If he finishes P2, he needs Alonso to finish no higher than P9 and Webber no higher than P5

Lewis Hamilton
- He needs to win to stand any chance of winning a second title
- If he wins, Alonso needs to finish P11 or lower, Webber needs to finish P6 or lower and Vettel needs to finish no higher than P3

* Should Vettel win the race and finish level on 256 points with a fifth-placed Alonso, then the Red Bull driver will win the Championship. They will both have won the same amount of race victories (five), same amount of second-place finishes (two) and same number of third place finishes (three). The title will be decided by fourth-place finishes which Vettel leads three to two.

* Should Vettel win and Webber is second they'll finish on the same number of points but the German will take the honours as he will have five race victories to the Australian's four.

Link (just before you thought i'd sat and worked it all out lol)

UKjovi 11-12-2010 09:22 AM

Thanks for that, I bet you did sit down and work that out and posted it on planetF1 :p Am hoping for Alonso to spin off Webber to have engine trouble and Vettel to lose his temper and do something stupid :)

Walkerboy 11-12-2010 03:21 PM

Want to see Webber get pole, with Alonso alongside him, Vettel in 3rd.
Then let's have them bunch up on the first corner, resulting in them colliding and ending their race - leaving Lewis to take victory and the title!!!

Alternatively, I'm happy to see Webber or Vettel take the championship.

Totally agree with everything apart from Webber being involved in the first corner pile up.

Would love Hamilton to win and keep the title in the UK for the third year running, not likely, but possible. Other than that, one of the Red Bulls, prefferably Webber.

LOL I know what you mean. I'd love it to stay in the UK as well.

Irishshin 11-13-2010 03:53 PM

Its not going to the UK :P

Its going to Spain or Australia!

I am hoping to much for Australia.
I want Mark Webber to win.

But being a Ferrari fan I will be happy enough to see Alonso win.

Hamilton deserves a penalty for that move on Felipe in Qualy.

To be fair if anyone was at fault there it was McLaren for not alerting Lewis that MAssa was fast approaching, Lewis has very little visibility from inside the cockpit, letalone behind his car, as does any driver. Anyway, no firther action is being taken.

Really hoping for a decent race tomorrow and hope Vettel doesn't just scamper off into the lead. Plenty overtaking too!!!!

Irishshin 11-13-2010 10:01 PM

True enough, still think there shoulda been a penalty.

Also really hoping Vettel doesn't just take off.
Maybe add in a bit of rain for some more fun :P

Really looking forward to this!

UKjovi 11-14-2010 11:43 AM

With Button in 4th he can keep Webber out of the way. Either that or just crash into Alonso, not that that i condone that sort of behaviour you understand :)

Irishshin 11-14-2010 01:07 PM

I am hoping that Vettel will defend against Hamilton and Alonso will shoot past them both :)

Irishshin 11-14-2010 11:20 PM

Today's race was pretty boring for a title decider! Glad Brazil is back where it belongs last race of the season next year.

Didn't want Vettel to win. I do not understand how the hell Mark's car was THAT much slower than Vettels. It just does not make sense at all to me.

Only 119 days to go to Bahrain.
I can survive that long....I think....

Yeah, it was quite boring apart from the first lap crash between Shumi and Liuzzi.

Would have been happier if Webber had won it, but Vettel will do, as long as it wasn't Alonso!

Couldn't believe how emotional Vettel was when he found out he'd won and when on the podium!

Irishshin 11-15-2010 12:52 AM

Schumacher was so freaking lucky there.
That could have been so much worse.

Yeah he was! Was kinda surprised too!

And I kinda thought Webber had been crying when he was being interviewed.
I wonder will he be with Red Bull next year, he didn't sound very convincing.

Substitute head with car.... He had to make the move in Singapore. It's not his fault that Webber likes to use him as a moving brake!

For getting out of the way? They were both on an outlap. Gave as a great camera shot though!

Overall, the right man won the championship. The fastest team member driving the fastest car. If it wasn't for reliability he would have won it a few races ago. He probably made more mistakes than Hamilton and a similar number to Alonso. Webber made the fewest mistakes but wasn't fast enough and couldn't handle the pressure - I don't think he would have been a worthy winner.

Alonso had a great second half of the season in a car that overall wasn't too far behind Red Bull but made too many errors in the first half of the season.

Hamilton has been as unlucky as Vettel with reliability this season but could have been challenging if not for the error in Monza or the bad luck in Singapore, but ultimately the car wasn't fast enough which is why he had to take the extra risks to stay in touch. Still, comprehensivley beat Button 14-5 (qualifying) and 13-6 (race including +2 DNF's for LH + 1 gearbox issue).

Hopefully the cars will be more competitive next year which could mean a titanic battle between Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel.

Massa was hugely disappointing this season.

I think Mark gave up mentally very early on. I also think a part of him didn't want Vettel to win.

UKjovi 11-15-2010 09:09 AM

Really happy for Vettel, he deserved that title yesterday. He was the better driver on the day. Did anyone see the display by Alonso after the race finished? Show what sort of a person he is.

Bounce7800 11-15-2010 03:27 PM

Delighted for Vettel, he's a very good driver although has made a few mistakes this year, he was unlucky at the start of the year where he was dominant but reliability let him down.

Vettel http://i30.tinypic.com/b3v30p.gif

Alonso was classless to the last, his gestures to Petrov on the slow down lap remind us of the man he is. Which is a shame as I was growing to like him again. Especially after his rollercoaster ride at the weekend:lol:

http://i54.tinypic.com/281a7pi.gif

I am disappointed Hulk has left Williams too :( Been following him for years through A1, F3 and GP2 and he deserves a seat for next year.

I've said it before and will say it again: Alonso was, is and will be a whiner.

Glad for Vettel, I'm surprised that he could keep his head cold and that his Red Bull held together. I kept waiting for it to explode like it had done in the past. Sorry for Webber, but not a bit sorry for Alonso.

Totally agree about Alonso, how could he expect Petrov to move out of the way, Alonso is just too scared to take a risk and try to overtake on the track, he just expects the others to move out the way. Same in Germany, if he genuinely was THAT much faster that Massa, he should have been able to breeze past him.

118 days...........

TheOriginalJez 11-19-2010 08:50 PM

Just to defend alonso... how close would you like to get to winning a championship to allow a guy to be a bit frustrated in the immediate aftermath?! Not saying he did the right thing but... certainly no worse than that time St Jon was caught flipping the birdie at a football match a few years back. It's sport, it's a competition, if you don't want to win you shouldn't be in it.

That said, congrats to seb. I wanted him to take it last year and as much as I file myself in with the Tifosi it's hard not to appreciate his driving (especially when he ploughs into his teammate :D)

Irishshin 11-19-2010 11:46 PM

Am still divided over Alonso. He is in a Ferrari which makes me support him and I have always liked him, esp in 2007. But I still felt like this year he was in Kimi's seat :)
Next year I think I will personally accept him more in the Ferrari :)

Seen Vettel was fastest this morning in the Pirelli test and Felipe in the Ferrari in this afternoons.

It can't be that long to testing can it?
Am not sure I can wait until Bahrain.

Hardly a substitute for the real thing but i've got the F1 2010 game for my ps3, so that'll keep me going for a while lol.

Watched the BBC's review of the 2010 season the other day, couldn't believe how much i'd forgotten about from early on in the season!

Irishshin 11-23-2010 01:45 AM

I totally forgot about that
Have to watch it on iplayer :)

It becomes a lot easier if you turn fuel and tyre sim off. I was struggling in my Virgin until I switched them off, and won the title and got a Red Bull contract. So see if they are switched on and it should be more of a challenge.
Lucas Di Grassi is terrible though!

Yeah, Di Grassi is dreadful, no chance of winning the constructors title with him in your team!

Will need to have a go with the fuel and tyre sims on. How do these work on 20% races?

Saying that, i've just got Gran Turismo 5, so thats gonna eat up a lot of time just now lol

Force India need to replace Luizzi
There's a seat at Renault too.

Maldonado will be amusing enough- he used to be a major crasher in GP2 before this year. Perez was fairly decent.

Hopefully Hulk and Chandhok can get drives. There are a few decent upcoming drivers in GP2/3, probably best for 2011 onwards- Jules Bianchi, Sam Bird, Christian Vietoris, Robert Wickens and one to watch for next years GP2 will be Esteban Guitterez.

Thats the FIA confirmed they're lifting the ban on team orders for the 2011 season.

Also seen more rumours that the BBC are getting rid of Jonathan Legard, hope they're true!

Irishshin 01-11-2011 06:11 PM

Best news to start off the Formula 1 season.

Legard is OUT!!!!!

Not sure about Coultard being in though.
At least Brundle is the lead now, much much better in my opinion!

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88861

UKjovi 01-12-2011 09:12 AM

That is good news, I'm sure Coultard will be good :)

Peterson 01-12-2011 11:24 PM

Yeah, glad to hear that Legard is out!

Pretty sure Coulthard will do a good enough job, he knows his stuff! At least he won't make any stupid mistakes like Legard did!

Also heard today that the BBC are gonna start broadcasting F1 coverage in HD this year!
