They probably made the right call.
But if he had been given a drive through, it woulda made that race WAY more interesting!

Not happy the championship is done....
Think the rest of the season won't be great.
Korea was boring last year. Abu Dhabi just sucks!
Brazil will be good. And will get to see the new Indian track I guess.

Yeah, the stewards made the right call, too much going on at the start and if they handed Vettel a penalty, they'd have been giving penalties all the way down the field due to the amount of moving around at the start.

Decent enough race, but as Sinead said, gutted the title is done and dusted already.

As for India.... purely form playing the track on F1 2011 on my PS3, it seems to be an ok track, but I am pretty sure it is another track designed by Herman Tilke, just like most of the modern tracks, so could turn out to be a bit of a bore. Hope i'm proved wrong though!

UKjovi 10-10-2011 09:21 AM

Great race, pleased that Button won. He's a great driver and a bit gutted Vettel has got the championship but he did deserve it.

Yeah, Jenson is an excellent driver. I'm sure he will be in the hunt for next years title. Just hope McLaren can produce a decent car at the start of the season instead of towards the end and having to play catch up!

Peterson 10-10-2011 10:24 PM

Also folks, the Senna movie was released on DVD/ Bluray today. Well worht a watch, I was lucky enough to see it in the cinema.

I always liked his style. He may seem a little more defensive compared to Lewis, but he can bite when it's needed. IMO he's the more complete driver of the two.

UKjovi 10-15-2011 12:22 PM

Watched the Qualifying this morning and noticed how Lewis was driving more like Jenson :)

Shame he couldn't convert it into a win. Never mind.

Set my alarm for 6am, but just switched it off and went back to sleep, watched the race on the bbc iplayer when I woke up. Glad I slept in, not much excitement apart from the Petrov/ Schumi crash and the Hamilton/ Webber battle.

Irishshin 10-16-2011 10:08 PM

That wins the most boring race of the season
Once the championship is over it just sucks.

May as well just skip abu dhabi that has sucked the past two years.
India can have a chance cos its new
And I love Brazil.

Peterson 10-17-2011 01:58 AM

Not F1, but still sad nonetheless....

Indy Car driver Dan Wheldon died from injuries sustained in a horrific 15 car pile up during the Las Vegas 300 race.

RIP

You wont see me getting up early, not while it can be recorded :)
Real shame about Dan Wheldon. Did you see the footage?

Walkerboy 10-17-2011 11:25 AM

The incident at Vegas was horrific. Unfortunately Wheldon stood little chance of survival. IndyCar racing is far too dangerous. Too many cars on too small tracks and too high speeds. As we saw last night, one small mistake can cause utter carnage.

RIP Dan Wheldon

Yeah, I saw the footage last night, as walkerboy said, amazing how one small mistake can cause such carnage. Shocking.

IndyCar really need to look at their safety levels and try to improve rapidly, can't help but think if that had been an accident in F1, all would have survived.

ticos_stick 10-17-2011 02:42 PM

A terrible tragedy.

The sport is crazy and yesterday they added fuel to the fire (pardon the pun) by offering $5m to the winner if Wheldon started at the back.

It's such a shame that Wheldon had helped produce a new safer car for next season which would have help cause far less carnage, if none at all in yesterday's race. Watch this Letterman interview from 5 Mins to see the car and Wheldon talk about it, very eerie -

Walkerboy 10-17-2011 02:50 PM

It was the wall/fence that killed Dan Wheldon. It's ridiculous to think that they still drive at such high speeds on oval tracks, with solid concrete walls. What's more amazing is that this hasn't happened on such a scale before.

Apparently he'd just signed a deal to replace Danica Patrick at Andretti next season.

Personally I don't think the whole $5 million deal had anything to do with the accident. If it hadn't been Wheldon it WOULD have been someone else. It's not like he caused the accident by chasing first. He was still down in 24th at the time.

ticos_stick 10-17-2011 03:03 PM

Well that's something neither of us will ever know.

But I'm sure the $5M prize was buzzing around all the racers minds, and at 200MPH with wheels inches apart it's not something that would have helped.....

Walkerboy 10-17-2011 04:26 PM

Wheldon picked up just under $3 million for winning the Indy 500.
The $5 million on offer yesterday was being split 50/50 between the winner and a fan/charity.
I believe Wheldon was the only driver out there yesterday who was eligible for the challenge as all others were driving under contract.
Like I said, he was still down the pack and not driving dangerously.

Fact is, he didn't cause the accident, just got tragically caught up in it.

Walkerboy 10-25-2011 12:44 PM

So apparently New Jersey will host a GP in 2013.
Rumour has it they will use the freeway that runs alongside the Hudson......

Yeah, I saw a pic of the rough track layout on twitter, will see if I can find it and post it.

EDIT: found it.... http://twitpic.com/7542se

Irishshin 10-26-2011 12:38 PM

Very excited about this NJ Grand Prix
Would be very cool to go....and tie in a Jovi concert lol

Peterson 10-27-2011 07:05 PM

More rumours surfacing about Kimi signing for Williams

http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227...Williams-deal-

Also read somewhere yesterday that he has signed and will partner Maldonado.

Peterson 10-30-2011 11:06 PM

Was a pretty boring race today, seemed to be way over hyped.

Fast forwarded quite a bit of it.

Irishshin 10-30-2011 11:59 PM

It was slightly boring.
I do kinda like the track though.
And wonder will it be better next year.

Fingers crossed it will be better, I like the track too, was pleased with it when I did a race on it on my ps3, not quite the same, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. But yeah, should be better next year, on e all the dust from the construction etc has settled and someone has been sent onto the track with a powerhose! ;)

And they really need to get rid of those kerbs that destroyed Massa's suspension, either that or Massa needs to learn to miss them like every other driver on track!

Irishshin 10-31-2011 10:18 PM

Yeah esp as it was only Felipe that damaged his car on them....twice!
He should learn to avoid....although maybe they should get rid of them....may cause a worse accident.

Love that massive corner with the colours all around it..the red and white and orange and red. Looked soo great from the helicam!

Peterson 11-13-2011 10:13 PM

Anyone watch the race today?

Wasn't too bad, DRS certainly helped keep my attention, without it there would just have been a procession.

Absolutely loved seeing Vettel spin off at the first corner! He looked livid when his mechanics signalled that his race was over ;)

Peterson 11-13-2011 10:15 PM

Also great to see Lewis back on top form!

UKjovi 11-14-2011 09:13 AM

Yeah it was good to see Lewis there :)
What's up with Massa though? has he turned into a curb crawler???

Not sure whether the switch to double DRS zone was worthwhile. It just meant that cars were overtaking the car that just passed them.
Added a bit more excitement, but all in all a bit pointless.

Great to see Vettel suffer a malfunction early on.........

That said, I look forward to seeing both him and Webber in Milton Keynes next month when they run the cars from the station to the shopping centre!

Massa is past it, not been the same since his accident at the Hungarian GP in 2009.

PRetty sure next year will be his last in a Ferrari seat.

Walkerboy 11-16-2011 10:56 PM

Looks like next year's US GP is off......
Workmen have stopped development of the area and Bernie says it's not going to go ahead.

They need to get their act together pretty soon otherwise it will not be finished it time. That would be such a shame as it looks to be such a promising track. Especially that corner on top of that hill.

Stefano Domenicali (think thats how it's spelled) has said Massa's will be in a Ferrari next season.

Shame about the US GP, but had a feeling it'd turn out to be a shit track just like most of the new ones we've seen in recent years.

Interesting Tweet from Jake Humphrey

"SO many people asking me what I'll do when the BBC only have 10 F1 races in 2012. We have ALL the races on the Beeb and we'll be at them ALL"

So not from a studio, the guys will be at all the races.
Does it cost them that much to broadcast live?

My guess is that he'll be at them all to to the trails in and out of the highlights programs for the races that BBC aint able to show. Really hope i'm wrong, but I can't see us getting all 20 races live on the BBC next year.

UKjovi 11-19-2011 12:09 PM

It will be great if we get all the races, even if it's shown once the race is finished. All we got to do is stay away from the news :)

Peterson 11-24-2011 08:50 PM

http://duncanblog.dailymail.co.uk/20...s-in-2012.html

Really hope this turns out to be true, would rather it was still free though!

Nice wee comment at the bottom of the article about Sky approaching Jake Humphrey.... and him rejecting their offer to stay at the BBC. Nice one Jake!!

UKjovi 11-27-2011 11:47 AM

Vettel is just amazing.
