That's the official reason. I think he just found out he wasn't fast enough. He was testing the old Ferrari and he probably couldn't match Kimi's and Felipe's times so he dropped out. It's better to stay a legend than become a stale old man who's beaten by younger guys.

No i believe him. Once you've done your neck like that it never regains its full strength. I think its a very wise decision. After all he doesnt want to do any more damage just to do a few races.

Peterson 08-11-2009 07:13 PM

gutted......

Irishshin 08-11-2009 10:57 PM

When testing the 07 car he was matching Felipe's time in the F60
I don't think he was too slow or worried abut being to slow.

I do believe it is his neck that is preventing him from coming back.

I was really looking forward to Valencia and to seeing him race again
Now its Spa I am looking forward to and thats ages away!!!

Irishshin 08-17-2009 08:17 PM

Renault's ban has been overturned.
They will race in Valencia

Just read that 10 mins ago, good news for Renault, the ban should never have been put in place.

Too true, will make the race alot better to watch now

Irishshin 08-18-2009 09:45 PM

Romain Grosjean is replacing Piquet. Wonder how well he will do

Valencia sucks as a race but am soo looking forward to have F1 back this weekend!
4 weeks is too long!

Also Felipe is hoping to race in Brazil and is doing well :)

UKjovi 08-19-2009 04:03 PM

Looking forward to it as well

Irishshin 08-23-2009 12:09 AM

I think maybe Rubens has a chance tomorrow. He is heavier than the two in front. Depends if he gets past Kovi at the start...but with McClaren's Kers I don't know.

Hope Kimi uses the Kers button good tomorrow :D

Badoer....No idea, I think Ferrari need to get someone else for the next race!

I'll do it :)

Irishshin 08-23-2009 07:05 PM

I think you would do a lot better Russ :D

I can't beleive Ferrari are leaving him in the car for Spa! He did pretty badly today

Great day for Rubens :D So happy he finally won!
And Kimi in third :D Nice!!

Hope he can do even better in Spa.

UKjovi 08-25-2009 01:00 PM

Badoer was useless !!!! if Ferrari keep him on for the next race they got to be mad.

SmirkSteve 08-25-2009 04:39 PM

I think Rob Smedley would have a better race than Badoer did!

Gutted for Lewis, stupid delay in the pitts cost him the race though I can't begrudge Rubens his first win for Brawn.

Nice seeing Mclaren being competitive again, about time!

Agree with you about McLaren getting more competetive, the rest of the season is gonna be quite interesting now that it's not just Brawn v Red Bull.

As for Badoer........ get rid of him. Don't see why Ferrari put him in the car anyway, they should have brought in a younger driver rather than someone pushing 40 (unless it's Shumi!) I'm sure Nelson Piquet Jnr would have done a decent enough job.

Irishshin 08-29-2009 04:03 PM

Fisi just put the Force India on pole position for Spa.
Just fantastic!!!
Hope he gets that Ferrari drive for Monza!!! :D

Irishshin 08-30-2009 09:55 PM

Excellent race today :) One of the best of the season.
So glad Kimi won for Ferrari, They needed and he needed the win
Really happy for Fisi. Force India have done wonders with the car :)

Yvonne 08-31-2009 01:52 AM

Glad Kimi won, good race... hope Jenson sortsd himself out for the next race!

UKjovi 08-31-2009 11:29 AM

Great race!! i think the best all year. Bad for Renault though hope they dont drop out for next year. BTW what do you all think of these new rules for next year? like not refueling and taking off those brake guards

I'm not gonna make my mind up about the new regs until I properly see them in place.

Was a good race yesterday, kinda spoiled by Eddie Jordan constantly reminding us that Force India used to be his team, It aint anymore! Get used to it!

Anyone else heard that Renault might be thrown out of the championship? Allegations of race fixing at last years Singapore GP have come to light. Apparantly Piquet was told to crash out of the race to aid Alonso. Seems a bit far fetched to me, but you never know!

Irishshin 08-31-2009 10:11 PM

Seems very far fetched to me.
Piquet wasn't that great of a driver. It just doesn't make sense at all and its stupid bringing it up a year after it all happened.

Not sure about the new regs. Am glad that Q3 will be without race fuel it will make it more interesting! But then at the start of the race you will have 26 (or however many cars next year) all starting with the same full tanks, they will all be so slow off the line lugging great big tanks of fuel!

Those break disks, glad they are going. Nothing but trouble!

I like the fact that the brake discs cause touble, would be boring if nothing ever went wrong! ;)

UKjovi 09-01-2009 09:33 AM

I dont beleive that at all about Piquet as after that he lost his place didn't he?

Irishshin 09-01-2009 10:07 PM

Looks like Felipe won't be back until next year. He needs another operation for a plate in where the spring hit him. After that he can train again and go karting.
Its better for him not to come back till 2010 I think, he will at least be able to get into the car and test it before racing.

Wonder who will get the seat though!

It's probably best he doesn't rush back in anyway. Not fussed who gets his seat as long as it isn't Badoer anymore!

The Renault/ singapore situation ain't getting any better by the sound of it: http://www.planetf1.com/story/0,1895...531424,00.html

Who knows, there has been rumours of them pulling out since ING announced they weren't gonna sponsor them after this season, so this might just push them out....

Peterson 09-03-2009 07:10 PM

Fisichella has signed for Ferrari for the remaining 5 races of 2009, he'll also be their reserve driver for 2010.

Thats what i think, plus with money being so tight. Great news for Fisi though but reserve driver????? thats not on.

Irishshin 09-04-2009 11:48 AM

Was so delighted when I read the news yesterday.
Fisi is fantastic so love that he is coming to Ferrari.

It kinda sounds a bit like Force India were dropping him next year.
Or maybe just the chance to get into a Ferrari was his dream and he is happy with being reserve driver next year.

I hope he does well in Monza and doesn't let the pressure get to him.
Really great news.

Hope Luzzi gets the Force India seat.

I cant see how anyone can be happy being a reserve driver

Irishshin 09-04-2009 02:18 PM

I'd be happy to be a reserve driver if I could drive for Ferrari

:D

Wonder would they have me......

:p

Excellent!

McLaren have also confirmed they are in talks with Nico Rosberg for next year, at least that puts some of the guessing games to rest!

I wonder if Ferrari will announce Alonso as a driver for next year at the weekend. They were rumoured to be doing so on the 11th sept, so only a few days to wait til we find out. (that is if they have anything to announce!!)

They will announce that Santander will be their sponsor next year. Probably nothing about drivers.

Aren't Santander sponsors of McLaren? Or is that deal off now?

Irishshin 09-08-2009 11:18 PM

Santander are only sponsers of McClaren till the end of this year
They started when Alonso moved there.

Ferrari / Santander announcement is on Thursday

I really don't want Kimi out of Ferrari next year.
There are so many rumours out there.
I just hope Ferrari announce no changes to drivers at this press conference.

UKjovi 09-09-2009 01:22 PM

Any idea what time this announcement is to take place?
