Pearl Jam's Ten

Has anyone bought the latest version of this yet? I think it was released 24th March. If so is it good how different to the original is it and is it worth buying?

Captain Walrus 04-02-2009 12:57 AM

Have I mentioned ever that this is my favourite album EVER? :D

I'm planning on picking up the deluxe version really soon

Dave 1986 04-02-2009 02:34 AM

I think it's a big deluxe 2 disc edition with the album digitally remastered with bonus tracks plus a DVD of their 1992 MTv Unplugged.

The last one seems a bit excessive on the price although very nice to have.

jbjrsdc 04-02-2009 09:59 AM

not a big pearl jam fan, but I always preferred Yield.

The first two are cheaper on Amazon

It really would be awesome to own the Super Deluxe package, but I really don't think I can justify spending nearly a week's pay on one album. So I just have to decide whether I can justify splashing out on the Deluxe edition

UKjovi 04-02-2009 01:27 PM

There alot cheaper on Amazon

if you have the original then imo the re-release is a waste of time.
I have nearly all the bonus tracks from the "new" ten anyway.

for the record - State Of Love And Trust is the best record they have ever done.
I have all PJ album but i think they lost their way somewhat after Vitalogy.
The other albums since then have been half good and half plop.
Yield was another good album - so if your not a fan and dont own any albums the ones to get are

ten
Vs
Vitoligy
Yield

take or leave the others.

It quite clearly says the songs are previously unreleased ... even State Of Love And Trust and Breath are unreleased versions of those songs. And it also has new artwork, is remastered, and features a version of the album remixed by Brendan O' Brien. Thats a decent amount of stuff

Also, IMO, their self titled 2006 album was their best since VS.

UKjovi 04-02-2009 05:54 PM

Again its all down to personnal taste

VS. just slightly edges it for me, but no doubt that Pearl Jam was immense. I wonder what their next album will be like, if they'll follow it with more straight ahead rock stuff, or go all weird again like Binaural following Yield?

i was in HMV on Sat and saw Ten with the DVD for £24.99 so i thought, why not? so I did - even though I have the original.

the DVD is excellent although havent heard the "new" Ten.

i am waiting for about 8 albums from the states so ill wait until they all arrive and put them on the Ipod at once.
