Queen of New Orleans

Was Jon pre-trying the nasal sound and/or the much lower voice range like 2000 onwards (well untill hand) to see if he could work with that?

I remember back then it sounded so different but listening to it now and compared to the post-2000 stuff its not that different anymore...

Possibly.

I find most of DA is like that.

It doesn't sound like the same Jon from the year before were he sounded amazing!

I hate the song, but especially the music video. A sign of things to come.

For some weird reason I really like that song. It would probably be #26 on my top 25 list.... I just like the feel of it...

Actually like the song but have to agree with you on the musicvideo...

Yeah, the vocals are closer to Crush style. I actually do love the song, though it sounds VERY SIMILAR to Tom Petty's Last Dance With Mary Jane

I love both the song AND the music video. It's a kick-ass tune, probably my 2nd favourite JBJ tune, after Blaze of Glory.

As to Jon's voice...it's got something really groovy about it, something he hardly ever managed to reproduce on subsequent albums.

I like the cool funky atmosphere of the song and I'm a fan of the album, but 1996 to 1997 represents the biggest change in Jon's voice.

Maybe all that smoking on set had something to do with it.;)

Yeah. In 2000 it was much better imo.

No it wasn't, it got worse on Crush and worse again on Bounce...
