Overdubbing on live releases

Hey I'm from Austria so I can tell you!

They mean Wiener Neustadt for sure. There is a small airport there, in german called "Flugfeld". Vienna airport is a mistake, because as you said it is Schwechat, our country's main airport and there would be no space for that :-)
Where did you get that concert, I am curious as I never heard any bootleg from BJ concerts here, sad but true

You can be sure that there are overdubs on most of the records.
Kiss even took studio songs and added crowd noise on Alive II, III.

Aloha !

As far as overdubs are concerned; Dire Straits took great pride into releasing a show as it was, without any overdubs. The Alchemy show is supposed to be without any overdubs but it's perfect anyway. The only thing that bugs me is that they cut out several songs. I don't know any live album I have that doesn't contain any overdubs.

Do people here know how often Jon has sang vocal tracks again in the studio and what other cheating they've done?

Not exactly how often, but yes, he's done this before.

Has anyone ever compared the radio broadcast of Wembley '95 with the official video/DVD, looking for differences in them?

Yes. Wembley 95 doesn't contain any vocal overdubs as far as I'm aware. It does contain a few edits from Richie though and some songs have parts cut out.

Have Bon Jovi's live B-sides on singles had overdubbing?

Yes. The bonus tracks from This Left Feels Right contain overdubs. On the original concert both Jon and Richie had a cold and they fixed a few lines of In These Arms, Have A Little Faith In Me and The Distance. You can still hear that Jon has a cold though.

What about the Crush tour DVD?

Yes. The chorus of Prayer was done again, as were parts of Wild In The Streets, Bad Medicine and Keep The Faith. I can't remember exactly wat parts though. If I remember correctly they've also fixed Sat. Night from Osaka 2000.

Jon has released a live concert from the fanclub show and he's done some overdubs on that one as well, some are very easy to point out when you compare it to the audience recording that was made that night.

I can't help you with the Vienna thing.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

If I remember correctly, the part where Jon sings "livin' on a prayer" right before the chorus is different on the DVD than the audio version from the Something For The Pain single.

CRUSH TOUR: Intro to prayer on talkbox there is an overdub

WEMBLEY 95: Intro to Hey God on guitar, Richie is doing hammer ons/pulls on guitar but only chords are heard. Dub. lol

They are the only 2 ive noticed, but theres no doubt more.

Vielen Dank für dich! Glücklicherweise gibt es Österreicher hier. I got that show from some Bon Jovi trader years ago.

No problem :) I will look out for that stuff, is there any bootleg with descent quality from the shows in Austria?

I could be wrong but I think that 'Livin' On A Prayer' on the 'Something For The Pain' singles is from the first night, Friday June 23rd, 1995.

Question: Where the hell does the 'Thank you' come from after the end of IBTFY on the Crush DVD? Why even put it in as Jon blatantly never says it? :?

crush tour dvd:
the biggest overdub is before the prayer's solo, when jon sings "Livin on a prayer".
and this is an unbelievable case: this "prayer" is overdub for 2 times: one for the dvd, the second one for the one wild night album. so, we have 3 different versions of this prayer.

i think the same fragment is also overdub on wembley 95 dvd

(this fragment was often directly overdub during Own and bounce tours show)

another case is after something to believe in solo, when jon sings "i don't believe in jesus": you can find a prove of that comparing own 85 01 album and yokohama 96 tv dvd

etc etc

Just heard that one and it sounds like the version that was playbacked in almost every show in the New Jersey tour. But i could be wrong.
