Judging from that interview, I think its possible Live Before You Die might not be the parody we're expecting. It seems a theme Jon is attempting (which, granted, does not by any measure means he succeeded in delivering it in the final product) to convey in the album is about humans who reach the midway point in their lives and begin to fear they haven't accomplished anything. That certainly seems to be a theme in Broken Promise Land and Fast Cars (which also, in theory, has the potential to not suck as much as the title indicates). Live Before You Die might not be a "make it through the night, everyday I gotta live my life, I've had a nice day but i ain't gonna sleep tonight" sorta song, but rather a song about a man measuring his own life as he ages.
Of course, even if it doesn't turn out to be a lyrical descendant of the IML clone family tree, the song may still suck anyways. Still, thought I'd throw some optimism in the fire.
Honestly, I have a feeling this album is going to turn out quite similar to Lost Highway. A scant few songs that the band actually put some thought into and are good (WFTWM is a probably candidate for this), and then a lot of songs that we'll be skipping over so many times the buttons might get jammed (Superman Tonight, Love is the Only Rule, Learn to Love? etc).
