i don't like the ending and the lack of bridge, got the feeling the song isn't complete.
still it's a good song to start the day.

They've very much stuck to formula on this one. The cliched lyrics are there, the upbeat optimistic anthemic Jovi we've come to know and love. Nothing new. The chorus is pretty much 'Born to Be My Baby' with different lyrics. It's not bad, just not that much of a stretch for them. it's like they're on auto pilot.

Good summary of my feelings as well.

You know what's missing ? If it was supposed to be an anthem which the lyrics suggest - it misses typical bon jovi chorus "whoa's" - what made have a nice day such an uplifting tune. This one doesn't lift me up.. which is something strange. Even when they made another "live my life" song in the past it was satisfying in some way. This track won't be notified at the charts..

Where's the ****ing solo.. I thought we had this period already behind us.. with the solos on lost highway i believed richie was back. Hey, even Metallica got back to playing solos.

I believe that Jon has started to believe in his senses too much.. I'm affraid he needs desmond's touch or andreas carlson's or even this guy max martin if he wants to have a top 10 single again.
This one's gonna be a flop. There's even no point in making the video because mtv wouldn't play it even if jon has a new blonde haircut and his teeth whitened to diamond-shine degree.

ps. this song is flat. flat singing (chorus should be sang higher in contrast to verses), flat melody (it's rewritten my last cigarette - though the were some hooks). He sing's too low - it feels annoying..

A little....meh.

Seems to be a similar case to most of the recent stuff, the basic ingredients of a good song are there like a catchy melody, singalong chorus, but theres just that something missing. Be it a solo, better production, a few high notes, the song just isnt as good as it could be. Agree with Kathleen though, could be better live

I only have had one listen seeing as am at work but I like it.
I do want a more rockier song and hopefully there will be more on the album.
But yeah its new Jovi and I like it!

The version on youtube is obviously the radio edit so the bridge will have been cut out, it's likely some guitar solo is missing (hopefully not just 'some' - a lot!) and the outro will probably be longer with free time guitar solo I reckon.

It's got more substance to it than 'It's My Life' or HAND at any rate and the lyrics aren't as bad as 'Work for the Working Man' IMO. It's not a classic and probably won't ever be but it's catchy and melodic enough for me to like it. You can see yourself sitting in a car on the way to work singing along to it anyway. :)

I do think it's a borderline filler track though so I'm anxious as to what the rest of the album will sound like but I certainly don't think 'The Circle' reflects 'Back to their roots' as was first suggested and perhaps hoped for - not from listening to that anyway.

Ok, that's not riff rock, loud rock, or whatever the hell they called it. A riff-oriented song is like the ones on NJ, SWW, KTF etc. It's just 4 basic chords that's been on previous albums. For ****s sake, what Bon Jovi's been doing in the past couple of years is what you can find on Ashlee Simpson, Katy Perry, Paramore albums. Their music and lyrics is not deep and complex anymore. Anyone who starts a guitar and play it for a year can write and produce those songs.

My complain is they should do as they say. Call the album what it really is. I had no problem with LH because it was like they said it would be, a country album, which i enjoyed it for what it was. But on both HAND and Bounce we were promised huge rock albums, but right from the very first single, it was contemporary teenage appealing music. If you can't deliver, don't promise.

And to those you-can't-judge-an-album-by-only-one-song-carp, we've seen it all before. In case of Bon Jovi, you actually CAN judge an album by the first single.

Well, its Radio SAved My Life + Keep The Faith for me with elements of Bounce. And I like it a lot! Its not so big riff rock song but it is upbeat rock song, and this is a radio cut (remember that)!

I would give it 7.5/10, its better then allmost all tracks on LH, Bounce, HAND and Crush! I can remeber only of 3-5 tracks on those albums that are better then this and they were not a singles! Yeah!

ITA. I love that most europeans are more positive than expected.

well there's meant to be a greatest hits coming out sometime in the foreseeable future - and looking at that picture it looks fairly official. However, i can't see the greatest hits featuring artwork from HAND rather than new artwork :S

Anyway I've listened to the song a few times now. A song that wouldn't sound out of place on HAND and it's more or less what I was expecting. Catchy tune, I really really like it atm. But I have a feeling it will be one of those I'll be sick of in a few months time.

Pretty sure that the album version will have a solo. Jon wouldn't say "guitar" in vain.

The chorus and the sound also remind me of "It Only Takes One To Say Goodbye".
