Pmp

Evening all,

Was wondering, is it just the youtube recording or is there a copy of the song out there? I'm all googled out.

could someone please send me a pm with a link?

Thanks in advance.

just another trendy pop rock song with random chord strumming :-(

where are these "riffs" now? its the same old road again with the chorus for the little girls and yeah yeahs all the way

samboraisgodUK 08-18-2009 01:06 PM

is it me or are there strings in the background? :S

BonJovi100 08-18-2009 01:26 PM

Guitars sometimes sounds like in U2 songs ;)

Can't hear them. You must be suffering the Lorena's Ponze Syndrome. It harms the Temporal Lobe of the brain and causes hearing shitty violins instead of BON JOVI music.

By the way... Now we already have the song, it would be good to know the tracklisting for the album. Not expecting for too much ballads. Jon's voice and John Shanks producing and songwriting make me think this way.

haha youre probably right :)

mrleaf 08-18-2009 01:38 PM

As numerous people have said it has an air of Born To be my baby.
Is there a pattern in what they are doing i.e Love this town has an air of Wild in the streets and from the sounds of things Work for the Working man has a bit of an air of Living on a prayer.
Are they just reworking the ideas from Slippery & New Jersey

eddie73 08-18-2009 01:40 PM

I do like the song, but i always though the first single was somthing to get radio play and to a wider audiance, but i dont see it happening with this song ( hope im wrong). All of this rock riff record promise appears to be on 1st listening a load of twonk. To me a rock riff song is " raise tour hands" and we are no where near that at the moment, hoping for better things on the album

rockingguy82 08-18-2009 01:43 PM

What's the betting that the first comment Jon makes about this song is the same thing he has said about every first single since IML. 'Its a big, fun, rock record.' Saying that I do like it. The lyrics are decent enough and once we get a bridge and solo it will sound more complete.

If the record continues this way you will have American Idol, Camp "Rock" and Jonas Brothers fans next to you at the gigs :p

Well, Iīve just heard the song, and here is my opinion.

1) The audio weīve gotten isnīt bad, but weīll be able to judge better the song when we can listen to it properly. But still, itīs enough to tell some things.

2) Itīs a catchy fun song, probably not the riff rock song most of you were expecting for.

3) Itīs as much as a riff rock song as a pop song. We could put it half way between both styles. That is what we are used to when listening to the band.

4) I donīt get a living as a forecaster, so I wonīt say this song is going to climb high in the charts. But I wouldnīt discard it.

5) Itīs an intelligent song, different from Say It Isnīt So and Real Life (two of their best tracks in the last decade), but in the vein of both.

6) We canīt deduce the album will be equal to this song. I would be content if it is like this song, or if it is a proper riff rock album. But sorry, I canīt match the rest of the numbers in lottery just by knowing the first one.

Those are my thoughts after the first listening.

Jovimimi 08-18-2009 02:36 PM

I really like the wide range of opinions on here
I was missing that LOL
I think the song is catchy , you listen to it once and you get it in your head for the rest of the day sort of song
I like it :) , but I don't think it's very original nor very risky artistically

RSROCKS 08-18-2009 02:38 PM

After my 5 hour sleep and another listen, I don't know if I am more embarrassed by their carpetbagging country shit on Lost Highway or their over-produced Miley Cyrus like crap with We Weren't Born To Follow...

Hickstar 08-18-2009 02:49 PM

I love it. Really good tune. Upbeat and fun.

KeepTheFaith2211 08-18-2009 02:58 PM

Listened to it again this morning.

I am sorely disappointed. This is not what I wanted. Sounds like a HAND song and I hate that album so much, so...

KeepTheFaith2211 08-18-2009 03:07 PM

But I have just listened to 'Work For The Working Man' and it is brilliant! What's going on?

Matrix15 08-18-2009 03:09 PM

I love it, really upbeat and addictive.

felipe-fontoura 08-18-2009 03:11 PM

I got a better version than youtube one...

E-mail me...

Felipe Fontoura

Thierry 08-18-2009 03:14 PM

I do not think it is bad. I am happy it does not sound like Lost Highway. Really upbeat.

Better than by example Misunderstood.

You think?

I think it's much much much better than WFTWM!

Yeah, at this moment in time, I think it could end up being one of my fav songs from 2000 onwards. It's just so catchy!!

Same here!

belgium_BON_JOVI_fan 08-18-2009 03:26 PM

damn it's catchy, maybe not what alot were expecting, but i like the positive undertone..

there are some parts missing like a bridge and a solo as said, but remember 1th everyday leak (the kiss fm one)

anyone has the lyrics for me ?

looking forward to more of the new album...

KTF,

Nick

RagDoll86 08-18-2009 03:31 PM

Damn, the more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's so catchy, and the lyrics makes me wanna stand up and do something. lol

liljovi93 08-18-2009 03:42 PM

As much as I like it, I'm still hoping it's just a radio edit version and we still get a killer solo at the end. What's the point in Jon shouting 'Guitarrr' when there's hardly a solo.

Stay Human 08-18-2009 03:42 PM

?

Can someone please pm me a link to a good copy of the song?
SO far have only heard youtube.

thanks in advance!

I'm 99% sure this is just a radio edit.

Well that's good. I've listened to it about 10 times now.

Arash 08-18-2009 03:50 PM

Don't get your hopes up. That's the song. Even if it's the radio edit, the only thing missing will be repetition of a chorus or more yeah yeah yeaha. It won't have a guitar solo.

And this is just the start. They will probably make it worse by a crappy album cover and a lousier music video.

UKjovi 08-18-2009 03:54 PM

At the mo i like it alot, catchy and i think will sell good. Got the yeah yeahs in it but isnt that to be expected from a Jovi song? After hearing this i have high hopes for the Album at least another HAND.

Jovimimi 08-18-2009 03:58 PM

I listened again

It's not bad , it's addictive
But for me it was not wouahh what a great song neither

I am wondering if it won't be the kind of song you have enough fast (addictive songs have this tendency one you are over it it's really OVER )

It could have been worse ;)
I am just so happy it's not country anymore

Exactly! If you want hard rock, then Bon Jovi isn't the right band for you. This is classic BJ, the lyrics, the cathcy tune. Way too commercial to be called pure rock. And I love it!

Esther 08-18-2009 04:00 PM

Not to bad after one listen, can not listen to YouTube at work so will listen again later.

steel_horse75 08-18-2009 04:00 PM

the solo is a joke
no wonder Sambora didnt make the list of top 100 guitarists of all time in this months Classic Rock mag.
His solos are piss poor these days - can only hope this was a demo and a solo will be added later.
poor effort from Rs,

Matrix15 08-18-2009 04:07 PM

I reckon that the good quality CD version will be longer, still, I like what I'm hearing.

Damn straight. It just sounded gay.

Samboras solos of late have been crap.

Any Other Day is crying out for a cracking solo in the middle - not when the song is playing out. But what do we get - a 3 second solo I could play with my knob.

Sambora has to up his game.

SSM12 08-18-2009 04:15 PM

After another day, it just seeems like another post 2000 song

That's a load of crap. It's not like we were expecting Metallica like stuff from them but to say that Bon Jovi isn't right for people who don't like this song is rubbish. Perhaps you should check out Miley Cyrus.
