I was wrong. According to this, Dann Huff IS involved with this record. I.....interesting. This changes things.

I would be very doubtful that information is accurate. I'd guess that this information came from some researcher who got his or her hands on Lost Highway news. That album was co-produced by Shanks and Huff. Jon and Obie......I know, I know.........have really gone out of their way to emphasise how un-Nashville influenced this album will be so I would be very surprised to see Dan Huff being involved with the production.

What's with all the noise in the background of the YouTube cuts of this song? It sounds really bad; is that just because it was recorded off the radio or something? It sounds like everything is very clipped in the sound and over amped to the point of distortion. Am I wrong?

Dan Huff has produced records for Megadeth if you didn't know. He's not only a new country producer but he's a Heavy Metal producer aswell. If he was involved on a rock album I will be gladly looking forward to hearing some of the Big Rock tunes.

Matteo 08-20-2009 08:23 PM

Dann Huff was the singer and guitarist in a rock band called "Giant" from 1987 and 1992.

This is their MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/gianttheband

And this is their Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_(band)

And they had nothing to do with country music!

rolo_tomachi 08-20-2009 08:24 PM

It is official.

Is it official just because Wiki says that's the confirmed tracklist? I'd believe more some official source like bj.com or the BWJBJ rather than Wikipedia.

I didn't know that. That's cool. I wouldn't have a problem with Dan Huff being involved in this Bon Jovi record. I liked the sound of the songs on LH he produced and I like his stuff with Keith Urban. It's nice to know he has a history with rock bands as well.

According to Wikipedia this is the "official" tracklisting for the new album
so take it as you find...

1. Can I Be Happy Now?
2. We Weren't Born to Follow
3. Selfish
4. (Back From) Another Tragedy
5. The Truth
6. Just Like Friends
7. Drivin'
8. Never Again
9. Work for the Working Man
10. All I Want to Know
11. 7 Oceans
12. Tomorrow

eddie73 08-20-2009 09:22 PM

after a few listens wwith the volume turned up i actually thinks its a great song, (apart from no guitar solo). Think it will go down a storm in the live surroundings. Didnt like it at 1st, its a grower

For some harder rock songs, perhaps "Drivin'", "Selfish" and "Never Again" sound promising?

Maybe my prediction for "Never Again" is influenced by Nickelback's song, though.

I bet I'm well off though. Bring on November. ;)

Hmm, no When We Were Beautiful

Rachie4Jon 08-20-2009 10:03 PM

i love the song, think it's really catchy and bound to grow on everyone but i was expecting something a bit more heavier....i was really anticipating this album and when the boys were saying they were coming back with a real rock album i thought the new single would be better than have a nice day or on a par with its my life.....
but i can't complain, its a good song and im just glad the boys are finally back :)

"Can I Be Happy Now?" is gonna be harder than the others.

I googled it last night. No such luck. I'd guess hoax.

DryCounty 08-21-2009 12:23 AM

I love the title (Back From) Another Tragedy. It sounds so dark and could have been something from These Days. I belive Selfish is a ballad. Bon Jovi usally have their ballads at spot 3 right ? Memory, Welcome to Wherever You Are, Thank Your For Loving Me, This Ain't a Love Song. Drivin' though sounds rocking !

KeepTheFaith2211 08-21-2009 12:25 AM

Those probably aren't real if they're on Wikipedia, mind.

ugly_queen_from_mars 08-21-2009 01:15 AM

given the list is valid, i have a good feeling about drivin'. But maybe it's because i like driving and drive (the song)

yup but probably it's talking about the tragedies of the american people and how they managed to get back on their feet again

haveaniceday 08-21-2009 05:17 AM

Unfortunately I can see them opening their shows with the new song. While I think the song is ok, I would prefer a different opener.

I think they should put up a poll on the website and let the fans choose the second single. If I remember correctly, they let the fans choose the name of the Bounce album this way.

Beaky 08-21-2009 12:28 PM

The album opener tends to be the song they will open with live, so Can I Be Happy Now is probably going to be the IML, Everyday, HAND clone... just from the title, you can tell it's an ironic statement in the same style as HAND.

Plus, I think the WIKI has been tampered with, when you consider track 12 is titled 'Stripped, Raped & Strangled'. Can't see that one being a single...

mrleaf 08-21-2009 01:57 PM

What do you think the chances of Mr Sambora having lead vocals on one of the tracks are?

Seeing as he is givin a couple of songs to sing whenever they tour then why not have him sing one on this album prob un likely though

I would say zero. Although, I think he should take lead vocals for at least one song on each album.

Up until Lost Highway, the last album they did that for was Keep The Faith, so I don't think it's really a general pattern

Just a theory mate, that's all, not a pattern... unless you count Let It Rock, LYHOM, I Believe, Livin' On a Prayer (CR) and One Wild Night (OWN) which means my assumption is not quite as baseless as you make out.

If they are going full circle and the song is the next IML or HAND, then I would imagine they will revert to the big opener for the album and the tour.

Again... assumptions... I haven't heard the album and I don't write the set lists.

I’ve read some old interview with Jon where he stated that he remembered when whey were working on a keep the faith song. He said: “I told guys if we work hard on this one we can be like another rolling stones. I knew it was something”.

I wonder what happened to their ambition. What are they listening to right now ? Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys ? Jon used to be a fan of Tom Waits.. When I listen to blaze of glory songs, keep the faith songs (like I believe, dry county, hell.. even in these arms) those songs were like 120 IQ points distant from new singles.. Look at the construction of the songs, second chorus has been sang a little bit different, there were some hooks in vocals, they started singing in lower keys to burst with higher vocals in second verses/choruses (my guitar lies bleeding, two story town etc)..

When it comes to this new single I feel like jon sang only verses and then chorus only one time. The the chorus got multiplied in pro tools (cause there’s no difference, no change of pace, voice, anything). The same with Richie’s playing. I hope you know what I mean.. it’s like none of the recording has been played live in the studio.. it sounds like it’s made in pieces and then multiplied.. No spontaniety.. This song is completely dead. It was supposed to be an anthem.. as always.. But this time it doesn’t move me at all..

Do you guys know what I mean ? I’m so ****ing sorry. I’m going through a bad time in my life and I truly hoped to be uplifted by their new music.. In comparison I think bounce was their best record from the 2000’s. Remember undivided, love me back to life, the distance.. the pop songs.. misunderstood, joey.. Hand is a great record but after a while it feels too flat, too polished..

What the **** has happened to them ? I always believed they gonna age gracefully.. Be rock gods in type of Bruce, rolling stones.. But you can’t do that sounding so shallow.. It’s not any different than these Hannah Montanah “rock” songs.. I think WWBTF is gonna sound silly sang live by 50 yrs old guy who used to record with jeff back and be on the cover of Rolling Stone.. Can you imagine that today ? Jon on the RS cover..

I’m just devastated.. Help me and say something that’s gonna make me feel better..

Ps. What are they waiting for with this MSG dvd ? It’s soooo late right now – does anybody still waiting for it ? I don’t give a damn about old concert.. now – when they start a new tour with the new material.. It’s just so stupid.. I have no words..

First things first, cheer up - go stick on the Keep the faith record or something, tends to work for me.

As for your points, you have hit the nail on the head when you say the recent stuff has sounded too 'polished' - especially the new single. The new production and direction is very clean cut and ultra modern, which can create the illusion that it is just souless filler, but i truely believe that this shouldnt be the case, and is only so because we constantly compare it to the classic stuff. The grass is always greener on the other side, and people love to remember the 'glory days' and feel nostalgic about things, i try to step back and take things for what they are. Do I enjoy HAND and think i'll enjoy The Circle? Yes. Do i prefer NJ,KTF and TD? Most definatley. But things change, and you can either come along for the ride with the band or be left behind.

This is supposed to be a rock band, and as such does not work, this is the real problem. if they say rock back to the roots, must be met. They do pop in now, before their references were more ambitious, it now appears that JBJ makes music for your teenager daughter.

They are crying because the critics are not recognizing their music. Respect is earned, not enforced.

I do not want my band success anyway, I want them to do good rock n roll, good music.

Pd: If they want respect, they will have to start to gain confidence in the world of rock.

Do you remember linking park's what i've done ?
WWBTF should be as guitar heavy as this one..
there should be a bridge.. more evident guitar solo part..
and some hooks.. more complicated structure..

then i wouldn't bore you with complains.
There is one of the greatest guitar players in band !
And what's the purpose ? I don't want Richie to play like Bandiera.
I'd be ready to accept everything from the band..
just let Sambora play..

They made WWBTF a single to please teenagers.
result ? Teenager won't even notice the song..
The fans won't like it.. after few listens there's nothing to stick to in the song).

I'm telling you.. the single is gonna be a major flop..
We'll be exciting when we see the video.. but only for few days..
That's not the track you can put on the greatest hits record.
It's a filler they made a single.. I like you can sleep while i dream and breathe better..
