AC/DC is done Thierry. I am glad you and I got to see them at the start of the tour. Replacement-drummer, replacement-guitar and now they think of replacing Brian for the postponed shows. It's becoming a tribute-band more and more. Just call it a day and saviour the memories is what I'd say.

I agree, it's still a shame though. Absolutely gutted that I didn't follow them earlier. There is no band who gave me more energy than AC/DC.

Arnhem and Gelsenkirchen where epic :).

Even if you followed them earlier you probably wouldn't have seen them much more live as they didn't tour that much.

1991/2 Razors Edge Tour
1996 Ballbreaker Tour
2001/2 Stiff Upper Lip Tour
2009 Black Ice Tour
2015 Rock or Bust Tour

At least I got to see them three times so I'm happy with that.

Was the tour properly filmed at an earlier point already? It looked like a great show from video you shared from the one you went.

I feel for Brian. I know what he is most likely experiencing based on his doctor's recommendation. People are declaring he just needs to wear an in-ear monitor (I believe he does,) but it isn't as simple as loud noise. I couldn't really expose myself to even moderate levels of music without experiencing rapid fluctuation and severe tinnitus. I needed a quiet room just to maintain what was hanging on.

It's one of those topics that people will over simplify, make fun of, dismiss... until it hits them. Given our culture of headphone/ear bud wearing masses, there's a whole lot of people that are going to find out for themselves sooner or later what it's really like and that hearing aids are not a pair of glasses. It's a one way street.

last year's show in Chicago was filmed for a future DVD/Blu-Ray release. A strange choice, given that the band played to 115 thousand fans in Austria earlier, yet it's nice that the tour was documented when they still could. I feel for Brian and hope that they can find a way to finish off the tour with him somehow.

Hmmm, hopefully it turns out, but American audiences.......

Last tour's River Plate show filming was phenomenal. The audience is pretty much the star of the entire show.

Axl Rose is supposedly going to sing for AC/DC while they open for GNR on their tour. I can't imagine AC/DC in an opening slot for GNR to be honest but.... he supposedly said this on a late night talk show too.

I've read about this too, it's confirmed by one of the sons of one of the band members. I'd say pretty cool stuff :).

Stoked that they at least keep touring.

Getting Axl Rose to perform the last 10 shows is an act of desperacy in my opinion. AC/DC turned into a tribute band and I still think they should've given Brian a proper thank you and goodbye but after a lot of reading it seems it's just an Angus Young show where Bon Jovi is a Jon-show.
If Angus wants to play they play but only him and Cliff to back longest. All the others have been replaced already. They just should have said that it has been amazing but that this is a reason to call it a day but no, they talk to Axl 'I cannot sing for shit' Rose.

Pity.

I salute you,
TS

Axl Rose is the new singer, it has been confirmed on the site of AC/DC now. This is for the European tour that starts in May and for the remaining 10 dates of the USA tour.

Exciting stuff. Angus played with GNR yesterday, Whole Lotta Rosie and Riff Raff.

Brian Johnson's Official Statement
Quote:

As many AC/DC fans know, the remaining shows for the 2016 AC/DC Rock or Bust World Tour, including 10 postponed U.S. shows, are being rescheduled with a guest singer. I want personally to explain the reason because I don’t believe the earlier press releases sufficiently set out what I wanted to say to our fans or the way in which I thought it should be presented.

On March 7th, after a series of examinations by leading physicians in the field of hearing loss, I was advised that if I continue to perform at large venues, I risked total deafness. While I was horrified at the reality of the news that day, I had for a time become aware that my partial hearing loss was beginning to interfere with my performance on stage. I was having difficulty hearing the guitars on stage and because I was not able to hear the other musicians clearly, I feared the quality of my performance could be compromised. In all honesty this was something I could not in good conscience allow. Our fans deserve my performance to be at the highest level, and if for any reason I can’t deliver that level of performance I will not disappoint our fans or embarrass the other members of AC/DC. I am not a quitter and I like to finish what I start, nevertheless, the doctors made it clear to me and my bandmates that I had no choice but to stop performing on stage for the remaining shows and possibly beyond. That was the darkest day of my professional life.

Since that day, I have had several consultations with my doctors and it appears that, for the near future, I will be unable to perform on stage at arena and stadium size venues where the sound levels are beyond my current tolerance, without the risk of substantial hearing loss and possibly total deafness. Until that time, I tried as best as I could to continue despite the pain and hearing loss but it all became too much to bear and too much to risk.

I am personally crushed by this development more than anyone could ever imagine. The emotional experience I feel now is worse than anything I have ever in my life felt before. Being part of AC/DC, making records and performing for the millions of devoted fans this past 36 years has been my life’s work. I cannot imagine going forward without being part of that, but for now I have no choice. The one thing for certain is that I will always be with AC/DC at every show in spirit, if not in person.

Most importantly, I feel terrible having to disappoint the fans who bought tickets for the canceled shows and who have steadfastly supported me and AC/DC these many years. Words cannot express my deep gratitude and heartfelt thanks not just for the recent outpouring to me personally of kind words and good wishes, but also for the years of loyal support of AC/DC. My thanks also go to Angus and Cliff for their support.

Finally, I wish to assure our fans that I am not retiring. My doctors have told me that I can continue to record in studios and I intend to do that. For the moment, my entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic. Only time will tell.

Once again, my sincere best wishes and thanks to everyone for their support and understanding.

Love,
Brian
