Prayer 1994

We never discussed that one!
Most of the time I don't like re-worked/-recorded songs but that's a really good take.
Would be an interesting fresh replacement for the original one at gigs.

Great song but let's be honest, they're never going to sacrifice the original in favour of this lower key version at gigs. They would be effectively wasting arguably their greatest song unless it was specifically an all-acoustic show.

It would only be sung at an acoustic concert

But they never played it that way as it's on Cross Road!?

I think you mean a general acoustic version ;)

ZB_ 09-15-2009 01:05 AM

Yeah. Just acoustic "Livin' On A Prayer". "Prayer'94" contains electric guitar solo. The great one, by the way. But I think the song wouldn't work well on the gig. It'd be hard to get this unique atmosphere that studio cut has.

No they haven't. They've done shitloads of acoustic versions, most of them were the same apart from the terrible version they did on MTV Unplugged, but Prayer '94 has never been performed live.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Yo Seb, you feelin' ok today?

Panda 09-15-2009 05:27 AM

How was that version in any freakin' way terrible?!?

And I thought I saw a version with a guitar solo and everything... must've been knocked in the head too many times.

bonjovi_forever89 09-15-2009 05:52 AM

I think it's a GREAT blending of acoustic and electric guitar

Are you saying that you actually liked the version on MTV unplugged with the violins and Jon's shit vocals on it?

Sebastiaan

I think maybe he's confusing it with the Evening With Bon Jovi session.

Prayer 94:

For those unsure of the version being discussed. I do love it but the electric version would work infinitely better live in comparison. Nice remake of an old classic though and it's a shame TLFR wasn't more along the lines of the approach they took with this song as I reckon it would have been a lot more successful. :)

Or with the version of MTV music Awards '89

Panda 09-15-2009 04:09 PM

TLFR would be a great album if the focus wouldn't be to sound supermodern
