Best post 2000 album so far

I know this has been done before, but I couldn't find anything on search, and I figure that a) the membership of this forum has changed a bit since last time, and b) it's been 2 years since the last album, so the poll won't be skewed by "new album" syndrome.

Anyways, obviously The Circle is only a month away, and I'm hoping it will be their best album of the decade. But before it's released, what does everyone think is the best album they've released this decade so far, and why?

I was going to put Crush, but now I really want to write HAND, so I'll have a think about it and get back with my answer!

I think overall, "Have A Nice Day" is their best post-2000 album, but some of my favorite songs by the band are off of "Bounce".

Have A Nice Day for me.

I think it has more decent songs than the other post 2000 albums. I think if they had excluded Wildflower and WSYCGH it would have been even better. (Although maybe not commercially considering the success of the latter song!) I think songs like Novocaine and Last Man Standing added a bit more integrity and maturity in comparison to the overblown chest beating of songs like Unbreakable.

Lost Highway didn't repulse me like it did a few/many Jovi fans, but again, it would and could have been better with the exclusion of one or two songs and the inclusion of Walk Like A Man or Put The Boy Back In Cowboy! I know it's OTT and cliched, but for me it is the best hybrid of "feel good" Jovi mixed with that Nashville style. A bit of fun, nothing more. Any Other Day is fantastic, and MAM is for me, the best ballad they have done this decade.

Bounce is a strange one. Undivided is the best album song they have wrote this decade IMO.....but the album as a whole is spoiled by the ballads and the 2nd half of the album is very weak.

Crush is probably the only Jovi album I've listened to and initially felt gutted by. In hindsight, it was partly due to the ridiculous statements that it was a SWW for the 2000's, and that songs like Next 100 Years were reminiscent to Wanted and Dry County! It has some great songs, IML, Just Older, OWN, but as an album it probably took me the longest of any to get into.

Crush, no doubt. I has it's ups and downs, mostly downs. Like mistery train, she's a mistery, cap crash, etc.
But it's ups, like IML, Just older, two story town, next 100 years are much better than almost anything post crush.

Bounce is terrible, too many ballads, horrible lyrics, it's a disgrace, even the title track sucks. The distance is great and it deserved a better album.

Then HAND is another disaster, it may sound more mature with songs like novocaine but then you get to welcome to wherever you are, WSYCGH, wildflower, complicated, bells of freedom, story of my life.. I mean, so many cheap sugar coated poorly written songs that it blows my mind. Also Last man standing has boring vocals even with that brand new riff. At least the title track is better than the previous one.

And LH, well, it's their most unmemorable CD ever I believe. I can't rescue even one song. Sure Any other day has an extended solo live and that happy-go lick but it's terrible, the lyrics are nothing new and so is the album. The last night, Everybody's broken, seat next to you.. All so below par. Also the title track must be one of the worst next to Bounce, incredible boring and uninspired, musically and lirically speaking.

Crush, by far IMHO.

Have A Nice Day by a mile.

Definitely Crush!

I'd have to go with Bounce. Some killer tracks on there :). (Undivided, Distance, Hook Me Up)

DryCounty 10-10-2009 12:37 PM

Bounce for me. Some really great tracks and great lyrics ! Crush on a 2nd !

RockThunder 10-10-2009 01:10 PM

In overall I choose Crush. There are some good efforts lyrically and musically.
Bounce is heavy and has some outstanding tracks, but I still don't like the electronic experiments on there. Have A Nice Day: I can't listen to the the punk pop songs.
Lost Highway was a good album. There is more instrumental work and feeling. I saw it as an indicator for the new album. Hope it proofs...
But Crush is an album where I can't skip and it feels good
