These Days

Im an undergraduate archaeologist at queens university, belfast. Today my friend and I (both 26 years old) started the usual music debate.

Clearly i got started on bon jovi waiting for him to slag them off. he was the typical "sure living on a prayer is the cheesiest.....and they are just glam 80's etc etc."

He explained that he actually likes the band to some extent as he had crossroads etc. i asked him if he had heard of these days but he hadnt.

Well.....from my i- pod i let him here the following performance:-
the guy could not believe it and said that for a band that he thought were pretty average, were ****ing awesome. obviously i was very pleased.

But the main point here is that people really dont know the bon jovi story or should i say the these days story. if you know these days your a fan if you dont, your not

Yeah, it annoys me when people are like BJ are crap but have songs like Prayer, IML and Always on their iPod, even though they are the only songs they've heard.

The guy was obviously not a fan anyway, so this whole REAL FANS!-thing is even more awkward than it would normally be. Richie's tone in the vid you linked is killer, though - didn't know that version, so thank you anyway!

Thanks for throwing up that link. What a f***ing amazing song and amazing performance. I will kick myself til the day I die for not realizing how awesome this band is until after the These Days tour.

Alan McGee got it right in an article a couple of months back.
He said that if any other artist had recorded These Days they'd have been critically acclaimed.
Unfortunately it was recorded by Bon Jovi, so everyone ignored it or put it down as being a cheesy album - without actually listening to it!!

I've had people hear it for the first time, not realise who it is, then comment about what a great album it is. Tell them it's BJ and they can't believe it!

Yes, they are xD My four fellow archaeologists (and I mean boys and girls) are fans of rock/metal. Especially the 80's era! :)
