I was bored in the bus and all I had was a newspaper and a pen so I decided to see if I could write a song about the issue of Jon being so obsessed by money lately. I came up with this, it's a song on how wanted to be like Southside Johnny but in the end became to obsessed about cashing in and ends up with pretty much the situation as it is now.

Writing songs in his basement,
got Johnny on the wall.
He lets us in for a buck,
'cause he knows us all.

I love his way of writing stories,
he knows how to give a beat.
One day I'll be just like him,
now wouldn't that be sweet?

His first albums didn't sell
he only had a minor hit.
But after years and years of touring
they finally hit it big.

Millions came to see him,
every night he gave his all.
From the local clubs in Jersey,
to arena's big and small.

"Whats the key to your success?" They asked,
to which he then replied:
"I write for the common people,
live an ordinary life.
So if you want to see me
I'll keep the prices low.
I'm not exactly greedy
always ready for the show..."

He now has the money,
he made business of his band.
He thinks that he's important,
but will think about his fans.

He's giving them the songs
and his fans they made him huge.
Everything he's touched was gold
he thought there's nothing left to lose.

He's releasing a new album,
sings about the working man.
But if you want to see him,
make there's money in the bank.

His fans they cant afford it
and when they got upset,
he said he was not to blame,
and that it wasn't all so bad?

"What makes you most proud?" They asked,
to which he then replied:
"I'm not in it for the money!"
But Jonnyboy: he lied!
'cause Johny on the poster,
and Jonny on the stage.
Are no the same people,
'cause he put his fame to waste.

So Jonny on the stage?
He sings for the business man.
No one's listening to his songs,
they're only there because they can.

Wanted Johnny on the poster?
You be heading south.
He still sees you for a buck,
sings of what you know about.

He been counting all his money
brags about all his records sold.
But no one cares about his thinking,
it's a story growing old.

Oh they talk about his actions
and how he treats his fans.
And good old Tom and Gina?
They no longer care.

"You only think about yourself" They said,
and he didn't reply.
He's got a big mouth in the movies,
but it's small in real life.
Reputation has been tarnished,
he's now a dirty money whore.
And the reason why he's singing
isn't worth it paying for.
