O2 tickets Tickets selling at a rate of 18 per second

23,000 tickets sold in the first two hours of sale.

Sweet jesus, imagine how many they'd sell if the prices were reasonable.

Do you think this is true or just put out to panic people into buying?

Walkerboy 10-30-2009 11:01 PM

It's just promotional spin....
They didn't sell out the original 5 shows - you can get tickets still if you're willing to pay the relevant high figure.

Additionally there have been at least 3 pre-sales:
Fan club
American Express
O2

The promoters will have made it look like those ticket sales were part of todays to make sales look high.

It's not exactly making people panic if "promoters promised today there would be “more to come”", I actually think that statement has the opposite effect, i.e. it was pretty stupid to say that.
I'm just completely shocked that there's actually so many people buying these expensive tickets. I mean it's not like BJ are the first act there or like there are no bands ever playing there, people KNOW that others only cost 30 pounds and they are still willing to pay more than that for BJ!? I just don't get it.

In relative terms that is hardly quick given that stadium shows (not necessarily Jovi) have often sold out in far less time than that.

Aloha !

Considering there's currently 280.000 tickets on sale I'd say 23.000 tickets sold right now is just one show. That's nothing.

23,000 sold in 2 hours to the 5 nights put on sale at 9am is actually nothing to laud. I'd guess Lady Gaga sold far more in the first 2 hours of sales for her UK tour (her first night at the O2 went off sale on ticketmaster in about 10 minutes).

and that only equates to 1 sold aout show, the other 6 have only sold 2000 tickets between em

cosidering the LH show sold out in 2 minutes, its still not very impressive really is it, im not havin a go but could you imagine IF they did do 20 shows and ended up cancellinig half of em, as much as i have loved their music fo 25 odd years, i think they reckon they are bigger than they actually are
