GH2 v CROSSROAD & ESSENTIALS
This has probably been discussed, but I haven't seen anything about this for a while.
When all the fanfare of The Circle dies down, I can see BJ releasing a new GH, maybe late next year sometime. I know they will still be touring The Circle, but they might release it regardless. If they did do it, how do you think this will stack up as a tracklisting? In no particular order: 1. It's My Life 2. Love Song 3. These Days 4. Say it Isn't So or Thankyou 5. Everyday 6. Lie to Me or Something for the Pain 7. Midnight in Chelsea (I know it's not BJ, but neither was BOG) 8 and 9. New Songs (This Ain't Love?!?) 10. All About Loving You or Misunderstood 11. One Wild Night (single version) 12. Have a Nice Day 13. WSYCGH (whatever version) 14. We Weren't Born to Follow 15. Work for the Working Man 16. When we were Beautiful 17. Make a Memory 18. Lost Highway This would seem to be the most appropriate hits mix (maybe a little too long) but would probably all fit as none of them barely touch the 5 min mark). I would like to see songs like Real Life, Undivided, LMS, Hey God etc make it but I don't think this would happen. Now don't get me wrong, I love nearly all of these songs, but it really doesn't stack up against Crossroad (especially to the casual listener) and probably would not sell by the bucket load like Crossroad did. Do you think a Bon Jovi "Essentials" would be better, then at least they could include Born to Be My Baby, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, Dry County, stuff off 100 Million, etc, etc..................??????? |
I don't think anything from Circle will make GH2.

They would make an album, and then a Greatest Hits a year later, but include nothing from the newer album? The only reason nothing released from These Days was on Crossroads was because Crossroads was released a year before. I've already made a thread similar to this, but here is what I think will be the tracklist: (In chronological order - sort of) 1. Something For The Pain 2. This Ain't A Love Song 3. It's My Life 4. Thank You For Loving Me 5. Everyday 6. Undivided 7. Misunderstood 8. Have A Nice Day 9. Who Says You Can't Go Home 10. Lost Highway 11. Make A Memory 12. We Weren't Born To Follow 13. -Circle Single- 14. New Song for GH 15. New Song for GH I don't think there will be even this many songs on the album, probably TYFLM, Misunderstood and Who Says (in other places than N America) can get the boot. And the only reason they included Blaze Of Glory on crossroads was because it was a MASSIVE hit. The album went to number 1. Midnight In Chelsea pretty much went nowhere. So, no solo stuff, I think. |
I reckon you'll have something like:
1 Prayer 2 Bad Name 3 Born to be my Baby 4 Its My Life 5 New song 6 Faith 7 These Days 8 Lost Highway 9 Have A Nice Day 10 Just Older 11 Hey God 12 Everyday 13 Who Says You Can't Go Home 14 We Weren't Born to Follow 15 New song Why would they leave off pre-These Days material just cos it came before CR? The Japan exclusive GH Tokyo Road featured material from all eras and I think this will too. |

If it's a greatest hits of all their material, those songs probably won't be on there. Just Older wasn't a single, Bad Medicine did WAY better than BTBMB, Hey God pretty much bombed everywhere except the UK (and only reached #13 there... Say it isn't so got higher) and I don't know about These Days, but I've never heard it on the radio, where as I have heard I'll Be There For You. Also, wasn't Always one of their highest selling singles? Those 4 songs, I think, probably will be replaced with Bad Medicine, I'll Be There For You, Always and probably Runaway (At least 1 song from their first 2 records) Anyway, if they released a Greatest Hits from throughout their career, I think it will have to be 2 disks. |

Just Older - the self-professed band anthem from Crush. With that in mind, the next logical one to include after IML. BTBMB - A very regular live track at gigs. Upbeat, catchy and not on CR. Hey God and TD I included more because of their relevance in the world today. HG has already had comparisons drawn with Bullet and is the opening track of the album. These Days is the title track and I think they'd opt for that if only because it's one of the few TD tracks that gets aired at gigs and they really wouldn't know which other songs off the album to include in its place as their own appreciation of that record seems undefined. I would anticipate if they were to include Always, it would be in place of Hey God though. |
if they did a second greatest hits, I doubt it would include anything already on CR. (ie. mostly '95 onwards). a 2 disc set would be pretty good as it'd allow them to include a few non-singles amongst their newer hits.
maybe something like- Disc 1: 1. We Weren't Born To Follow 2. (You Want To) Make A Memory 3. Say It Isn't So 4. Misunderstood 5. Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars 6. This Ain't A Love Song 7. Summertime 8. Who Says You Can't Go Home? 9. Just Older 10. These Days 11. [New Song] 12. Have A Nice Day 13. All About Loving You Disc 2: 1. One Wild Night 2. Something For The Pain 3. Everyday 4. Lie To Me 5. It's My Life 6. Hey God 7. Welcome To Wherever You Are 8. Something To Believe In 9. Undivided 10. Thankyou For Loving Me 11. Lost Highway 12. When We Were Beautiful |
If they were going to do a 2 disk, they for sure will not include only post 95 tracks.
And as for wsycgh, I really, really, really doubt they won't include it, no matter what kind of greatest hits they do. |

If/when they release another GH, it will be a 2 Disc career spanning set IMO.
