Play.com Users

I wrote his thread here because I though most of the people could read it.
Play.com is a Brithis website?
I was looking in case they had an email to contact to them but there's just a phone.
Do you know if there's an email addrees?
When an article is in pre order... do you know when it's going to be shipped?

Supersonic 11-03-2009 10:14 PM

Aloha !

There is an e-mail adress, they just didn't publish it on their website. Play.com is British from origin but they're based in New Jersey nowadays. Sometimes a package still comes from the UK though, and sometimes it comes from America. Whenever you order something from their own store it usually takes only a few days to arrive, when you order something from their second hand store it could take up to a month before you've got it.

When something is in pre-order it's usually shipped the day of their release.

customercare@play.com is the e-mail adress they used to have on their website, they normally take up to 2 days before they respond.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

in my experience play.com are awesome - my delux version of The Circle turned up on Monday, inspite of the postal hassle in the UK.

i've never had any problems with them, infact, I prefer them to amazon.

RS8MB0R8 11-03-2009 10:23 PM

Also, bear in mind there are postal strikes just now.

I think they are actually based in Jersey, one of the Channel Islands just off the coast of France.
As for despatch, I received an email on Thursday to say The Circle had been posted and it arrived on Monday, the day of release. :)

I remember I pre-ordered LH from play.com.

I didn't get it til 5 days after the release day :| Waste of my time, could have just bought it in the stores <_<

And I haven't pre-ordered from there since.

That's what I thought as well but someone who apparantly had ordered loads of stuff from them claimed they were from New Jersey, America. I thought differently but she was 100% sure.

Turns out I was right after all. Like always. 8) :p

I buy all my albums there.
If I would buy an album in the Netherlands its mostly around €19,00.
Play.com is 6 euros cheaper and sometimes more.
I save 6-9 euro per album I buy which stacks up a lot since I buy albums on a regular basis.

I can wait the extra days until it arrives and just live with the downloaded version of the album until the copy arrives.
I prefer to have it cheaper later then more expensive now.

I bought The Circle Deluxe at play for 17,99 and its on 20,99 where its 28,99 in Holland.
Awesome website/shop.

I salute you,
TS

Which is the second hand store?
If you look on play.com for the When we were beautiful book it says pre order and due for release 25/10/09.
You say that pre order means shipping on the day of release but the book was released on october 25th so what does pre order means here?
How did you get the email? Can't find it on the website.

Play don't charge for postage, you get what you pay for. That said, they've always been excellent in my experience.

SmirkSteve 11-04-2009 12:40 PM

Play.com's distribution centre is based in Jersey - we do business with them and our meetings haven't been in New Jersey, unfortunately they've only been in Jersey or boring old England which is where their business operations are based.

They are actually based in OLD Jersey as in between the UK and France!

ticos_stick 11-04-2009 08:50 PM

Play.com are just okay.

I ordered a few DVDs and a book one time and they all arrived days apart although they came from the same warehouse. One came two days after I ordered it then the others turned up after every other day.

Amazon are far better and offer free delivery on orders over £5.

The second hand store is called playtrade, to buy from play.com is very straight forward where as play trade is more complicated! All playtrade items must say their secondhand etc

No, it isn't, it's exactly the same. You choose a product, pay for it and you get it. Exactly the same user experience, the only difference is that the product doesn't come from Play.com but a private user somewhere inthe world. Play.com even pays you your money back if you don't get the product.

It's not complicated at all.
