From a teenage viewpoint
 

Hello Everybody, i just thought after reading sebs review on why he was still a fan, i would share with you the thought on bon jovi from my viewpoint

I First became a fan of the band in roughly 2003, it was the time TLFR was out, and i was bitterly dissapointed that it was acoustic lol rather stupid in my younger days, but loved the band from the onwards, and have purchased every cd, dvd and been to a concert from every album since and loved it!!!!

When its my life came out in the UK i was to young to have a favourite band if that makes sense, i was into boybands im ashamed to say, and i hated its my life because in the UK I remeber it was everywhere, but now i have realised what a success it was and how many new fans it generated the band, i would love them to have that success again.

From my viewpoint the jovi since 2000 is my band, i appreciate completly where the older fans are coming from when they say they have changes, and maybe not in a good way, i own the disography from beginning to end, and can quite clearly see and hear the change in the band, and the path they have choose to go down. However i love it as thats what i know from the band, its what i expect, and therefore im never dissapointed, but can see how people who grew up listening to slippery and ktf would be less than happy.

Its probably because of my age again, but i loved seeing the band on the x factor, it got people talking about the band, almost got the album to number 1, and most importantly it was a chance to see my favourite band, one that isnt on the music charts or the radio that often, so i sat back and enjoyed it.

Im not saying for 1 minute dont criticise the band, as there people who have followed them for over 20 years, and yes they make a few wrong decisions here and there..song choices..ticket prices but i always think what would i do if the band stopped making music, and that alone makes me want to support the band even more

Im not asking you to agree with me, just wondered if you guys felt strongly against this or can see what i mean

This is the proper way to respond to critisism. You like what you hear but can understand where I am coming from with my viewpoints, just as I can understand where you are coming from. I do wonder how old you are though, I can't imagine you being born in 1973?

I do have to say though, you being a guy and you liked boybands? That's erm, funny. :p

Nope i was born in 1991 lol, sorry i forgot to put that, so when i was 9 westlife were everywhere along with blue and britney if i remeber right, there was no time for jovi back then.........how times change :)

I really can understand where you're coming from, you grew up with pop music so the more poppy side of Bon Jovi will appeal to you. However, I do think that once you're a little bit older you'll start to "see through" the songs and will find out that you'd rather have a song with a little more depth. No offense if you don't, but it'd only be normal. :)

yeah i mean im a fan of the "classics" as much as everybody else is, and thats partly why i go to concerts and watch the old vids on youtube so i can get a feel for the old songs, even from there i can see the change in the band, part of me thinks jons vocals have alot to do with the type of music they make now, easier on the chords means they can be performed live alot, whereas if they produced a bed of roses style ballad, vocally jon wudnt do it justice live and therefore wouldnt be played

I was born in 1987, does that give me a special status as well? :)

Not to worry bud. You've found your way from that to Bon Jovi who are much better musically and lyrically than those mentioned above. No doubt soon you'll make the transition from Bon Jovi to Bruce Springsteen. It will just keep getting better. I, like Seb can understand why you like the new stuff.

Heh I was born in 1991 also, and the popband stuff was everywhere, and I like the majority of the 2000+ material too :D

It's not as good as the 90's stuff, but I still enjoy most of it.

But now I only like pop music if it comes from Bon Jovi for some reason. If I heard...let's say...Lost Highway the song by another artist on the radio I'd dismiss it, but I love it by Bon Jovi. Get what I mean?

And before anyone says it, a-ha is an exception to the whole pop thing <_< They're more than Take On Me :cool: And they didn't write mindless pop either.

I was born in 1991 also but I got into Bon Jovi in 2005 after seeing them at Live 8. I never really payed attention to them as a whole even after Crush and smash hit IML. Then seeing them in concert I heard livin on a prayer and HAND and said to my then girl friend this band flat out rocks. I went home and went on the internet and found all the hits and litsened to them and found my band. I went and saw them at Citizens Bank Park in 06 and at wachovia center and MSG on the LH album.

While I love being a fan, I must say I agree with all older fans who find it hard to like the newer albums because for you guys the bar was set much higher and I wish I could have been in those times. I'm not so, I like more of the Crush on era of the band. The poster who says about pop music he will only litsen to Bon Jovi, he is right because their music has more depth then some of the utter s*** out their right now. While the circle its not as talented of an album like TD it is still a better album then most of the releases by bands now. I find it insulting when my friends tell me the song Gives you Hell by the all american rejects is better than Bad Name

These are my feelings on the band. I will always love them because new or old albums are all very good in some way or another.
