a bit exaggerated...

In my opinion it is ok if people criticise bon jovi, but i also think that by now it gets more and more exaggerated...every day there is a new aspect that anyone starts to criticise. First everybody likes the new album and after a week most people don't like anymore...ok the fact that the ticket prices are too high is justified, but then there are people who say that the madison square garden dvd is bad...they mention that the sound and the videoquality is bad...come on...that's ridiculous...for me at this time it looks like everybody is unsatisfied with everything bon jovi does...to my mind it gets unfair by now so maybe we could now, after weeks of criticising, start to see the bright side of bon jovi, the new album and the upcoming tour...

Well, there's nothing wrong with criticism when it's warranted. If all the things that warrant criticism happen to occur around the same time then so be it.:p

Looking forward to the upcoming tour? where all the fans will be in the back? Unless you paid at least $995 you will be about 20 rows back...thats something to look forward to!

Actually they deserve more criticism.. The new album isn't what they said it would be, the MSG DVD looks like a bootleg on the outside and it's butchered by Obie and not even one of the top 5 gigs from the tour. And the documentary is boring as hell, all about Jon complaining about touring with his "brand" and every band member worshiping Jon. It's like an insult right to the fans face, when I saw it, honestly I couldn't believe it.

Funnily enough, despite the fact that I myself have no immediate experience as to what it takes to run a "global brand for 25 years", I could not believe the sheer arrogance with which he conducts his "business". I already knew from various sources that Jon was a bit stuck up before that documentary was released but he comes across as a complete t*sser to me. I imagine the desired response from the fans was, "Wow, look at the drive and determination he has," but that's somewhat overshadowed by his attitude and comments in the video.

He complains about not having the time to spend with his family when on tour and running 'Bon Jovi' so why does he not place it in the capable hands of someone he trusts. There must be somebody who would be prepared to take the reigns and free him up to spend time with his loved ones, write good music and perhaps even somewhere along the line maybe, just maybe, have a little fun playing the music...

It was quite sad seeing how much he takes on outside of the immediate band activities and how detached from the main focus of the band he has become. :(

Yes, people here seem to criticize too much. It's getting sick, actually, the quantity of bad words used and bashing on the band, especially Jon.
I don't worship Jon or the band, i'm just a fan...and of course I don't agree with everything they do.
But lately this forum is turning to a "let's bash bon jovi" session...
EVERYTHING they do is crap...

the session "the band we love" should change name, really...

Yeah, but last time they had that the band were run into the ground and almost broke up. So I can honestly see why he does it. Was amazing to see how chilled out the others were compared to Jon.

Gee, what an insightful thread. You know what, you're a genius; absolutely right. We have been too hard on Bon Jovi:

1. We were certainly out-of-line for bashing their cut-and-paste, soulless lead single.

2. Obviously off the mark for criticizing their poor marketing tactics, especially in the United States, and how the only people they seem to aim to grab are mindless heartthrobs such as... well, never mind : )

3. Completely rude and taking it too far for any criticisms towards the new album, even though many of us still like it and rank it high.

4. Totally radical for our completely accurate observations that the documentary is nothing more than a masturbation-Jon fest.

5. And, certainly, who are we to complain that this hypocritical band has ticket prices higher than anyone else? That their prices for the O2 are somehow higher than what Michael Jackson's shows would have cost? That even though they could afford far less, they take every chance at the dollar-sign they get. How dare we!

Gee, I guess we are exaggerating... somewhere... brilliant thoughts!

we are still fans, but like 99% of the population we dont like being shit on, taken for granted or forgot about.

money matters, sex sells and jon bon jovi is nothin but a second rate businessman.

jovigirloz 11-29-2009 11:57 AM

It is not a constant bashing here. Alot of fans are feeling a sense of hurt too. Delve a little deeper and you find that most fans here still love the band, but like most relationships etc in life, you may always "love" it but there are times when you may not "like" it.
The thing I like about this board is that everyone is open and honest in their opinions and while some may not agree everyone gets a chance to say their piece without being banned.

Now that Jon markets it all as a brand, don't we as a consumer (as he thinks of us now, not a fan anymore) have the right to speak up when we are dissatisifed with a product? That is what most of us here are only doing. You can't vent this stuff at Backstage, so here is the place that most people come to share their feelings.

I know for me personally, I am feeling saddened by the changes that have happened over the last few years. Jon constantly complains about touring, leaving family etc. He does not HAVE to. He never needs to work another day in his life if he wants.
Most of us here, we HAVE to work to feed and clothe ourselves, kids look after elderly parents and so on. That's life.
Jon always banged on about being for the working class, but he doesn't show it through his actions.

This album was supposed to be a big rock riff one, but Jon bull***ts again. I know what is going on in the world right now. I don't need another singer telling me. I'd go out and buy a U2 album if I wanted to be preached at. I want to hop into my car, put on a cd and get lost in the music for a while. Not have it remind me of what I see every night on the news.
Bon Jovi used to fulfil that for me musically, and yea part of me (naively I know) is hoping for that to come back again from them, but I really now think I am holding onto the impossible dream.

Ok little rant over...
