Is Obie really William O'Brian?

I was reading through the Bon Jovi News archives of the NY Times. There is an article from 2003 that describes a William O'Brien, sound engineer for Bon Jovi, who was incarcerated for sexual activity with a fifteen year old girl.
The article tells how the Judge would not allow him out of prison to attend a Bon Jovi concert. He appears to be the same age as Obie O' Brian. Anyone know the answer?

Heh, you've been reading too many shitty tabloids, because I've never heard of anything like that.

Actually, he's pretty much right. I think it was the QVC event they needed him for. And I don't think it was jail, he just couldn't leave the state. Not sure.

Oh.... but saying that it was Obie, is kinda crazy.... not that I'm defending the guy.

Look under 1984. It describes one "William 'Obie' O'brien".

Presumable thats the guy, I doubt he was incarcerated and I can't imgine they'd let him still work there if he was a kiddy fiddler.

Maybe that's why he works in the studio so much, twiddling with all those little nobs.

It most definitely was the same guy. My recollection was that he did a short amount of jail time and then was on home detention. That's why he wasn't able to be at one of the gigs.

I think it was 2000/01, probably consensual (I think her mother reported it?) but obviously a girl that age can't legally consent.
