They can't play it live. So many mistakes in one song.

It's true, they've never nailed it live but this is a particularly bad performance and I've seen at least one other that was much better.

it's just that i thought they never played this live....

And the song that follows is 'Something to Believe In' - man, what I'd give to see them play either one of those live let alone as consecutive tracks!

The entire 96 tour were an big parade full of magical set lists . The three Yokohoma shows 96' still belongs to my all time favorites, what a concerts and what a set lists ! :)

i don't think that is too bad a performance to be fair. i'd imagine it's pretty hard to play live. would be nice to see this crop up again in 2010.

I agree. Jon cannot sing well on that tour but still gives it his all. It's certainly not as bad as is made out.

To be fair, Richie probably butchered that Yokohama version more than Jon did - he was just not switched on during the performance.

There isn't a chance Jon could hold the notes nowadays though. It's not that he couldn't hit them as I'm sure he could, especially if it was just played occasionally, but it sustains some pretty high vocals throughout and I think it would be beyond him without some serious practice.
