Exactly what I meant. In dreamland, they would tour only to meet their great fans and to share their great music. But as Bon Jovi is a brand and Jon the CEO, I'm sure these little numbers please him a lot. Not sure he's happy with the sales of the album...

Yes this is impressive. I'm tired of all you losers bitching about them earning as much. What's your problem. It's simple, you can only top such kind of charts if you draw large audiences and that's what they do. Sure the tickets are expensive, but every place is sold out so, why would they charge less?

Let's put them in the list of all the greatest : The Stones, Metallica, U2, Paul Mc Cartney, Madonna, Bruce, The Police... do these guys charge less?

It's all about finding a balance between offer & demand.
If they weren't relevant anymore, they would play in venues like poison does. So yes, this proves they are very relevant. As relevant as the others mentioned above.

Don't forget the huge production cost of a Bon Jovi show: this kinda show costs just a little more than let's say the production of Bruce or The Police.

It's not Bon Jovi's fault, it's just the world we live in.

Poison plays Amphitheaters - quite sizable venues. Yeah they don't sell them out + often are along side another 80's rock band but they wouldn't keep doing them if they weren't profitable. I'm not saying Poison is musically relevant but they go for their annual summer tour + the fans show up - i went in '06 + '09 - they were def better in '06 though. They have great energy when performing though - more than Bon Jovi - although Jon seems to be doing better this tour.

Don't the tours adjust what a "sell-out" crowd is every year and lessen it percentage-wise the same way records companies do with platinum and gold records?

Anyone have any stats on this for previous years?

I think you're right. I think a sell out was anywhere from 85% of tickets sold or womething like that.
I had heard this before but can't find the source. Can anybody confirm or deny this??

Sellout could be anywhere from 80 to 85%
bands tour for money so of course Billboard figures matter a lot
as all audited tkts are reported
