oh no not again

Have you ever dreamed of opening for Bon Jovi? This might be your lucky day. We are looking for pop, rock and country acts around the world to be our opening act at several shows this summer. Our fans will vote and decide the finalists, then we decide who wins. For all the details go to http://BonJovi.com

Why the **** do they always do this, i wouldn't mind if they have a half decent known ROCK band as well, but they never ****in do. And to say COUNTRY and POP acts as well takes the piss. Any one know if Kid Rock is doing more of the o2 shows and not just the 2 listed

I'd rather see an unknown band than junk like Daughtry or Kid ROck if you ask me....
I think it is a nice move to get some fresh bands into the spotlight rather than having a "bigger" name to draw people.

Logan were phenomenal so I'd say it's great to give up and coming acts a chance for some much needed attention. That said, they need to be a little more picky about some of the ones they choose as many have been pretty crap.

Although I enjoy seeing a decent up and coming act, I can't help but think the management are penny pinching with this infinitive. For the price of the tickets we should be getting 2-3 well known opening bands ala U2, RHCP shows, which are more like a one day festival.

Or is it because any half-decent band is embarrassed to support Bon Jovi?

There have been a lot of artists who've supported Bon Jovi who were very popular acts who wouldn't have to be a support act if they didn't want to--Daughtry, Nickelback, Kid Rock, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Sheryl Crow, Van Halen, etc... They may not be your personal cup of tea, but they're definitely more than "half decent bands" if their record sales are any indication.

On American soil support acts have been the more popular acts. In Europe, apart from Nickelback, most support acts have been average. When America got the Goo Goo Dolls, Europe got Live (that's a band name). When America got Daughtry, Europe got unknown bands. Also, most of the support acts for the Crush & One Wild Night tours were shit. Anyone remembers Less Than Jake, Toploader, SR-17 or Eve 6?

Salaam Aleikum,

Live were good. Just totally unknown in Europe.

jungleland 04-03-2010 06:16 PM

Daughtry were shit. In 2000 Gotthard opened for some shows and they were awesome as usual.
The U2 shows (in Europe) were no "festival"-like shows. At Wembley there were terrible opening bands like Glas Vegas and Elbow who no one outside the UK knew and the were absolute crap. I'd prefer it the Springsteen way - no support act at all. As Jon copied SPringsteen from time to time he should do that as well here and he should play 30 min longer...
