Setlist Anger!

ARRGGGHHH ! I've finally cracked and lost my patience with the run of current run of setlists.

Got my first ticket through for the O2 shows (night 1) on Saturday so it brought it into focus what the band are up to at the moment.

Wonder why the setlists are so poor at the moment - either way the band can't win because if this carries through to the O2 shows in June / July there will be hell to pay (and they wont sell any last minute tickets, which is what I think they are relying on) but then if the setlists do change and become more interesting the USA audiences will go mad and say 'why them and not us'?

HOW HARD WOULD IT BE TO CREATE AN INTERESTING SETLIST FOR DIE HARDS AND CASUALS ALIKE?
Not that hard in my opinon and to prove it I've created a 23 song setlist that I think most people on here would appreciate but then so would the 'casuals' too.

I've been realistic and kept in songs that wouldn't be my choice but I know the band would never shift in a month of sundays, these songs have * next to them, ones that can't/wont move.

What do you think?

1. Happy Now
2. We Weren't Born To Follow *
3. You Give Love A Bad Name
4. Only Lonely or Roulette (rotating)
5. Born To Be My Baby
6. Lost Highway *
7. When We Were Beautiful
8. Superman Tonight
9. I Believe or In These Arms (rotating)
10. Bounce or One Wild Night (rotating)
11. It's My Life
12. Lay Your Hands On Me or Homebound Train (Richie Vocals)
13. Always
14. I'll Be There For You
15. Something For The Pain (acoustic)
16. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (acoustic)
17. Keep The Faith
18. Work For The Working Man
19. Who Says You Can't Go Home *
20. Love's The Only Rule

Encore:
21. Hey God
22. Wanted Dead Or Alive
23. Livin' On A Prayer

I've been REALLY REALLY realistic and not included stuff from These Days that we all want to see, I've only included 1 pre-slippery slot filled by a rotation of 2 songs, I've not done more than 23 songs even though they have been known to do up to 29.

There are loads of faults you could find with that setlist but its HAS to be better than what they are doing at the moment but it means the band only have to learn 27 songs!!!

Thoughts?

Thoughts? That it has been discussed so many times and nothing has been solved. We all agree that the setlist are too staple and that they need to rotate it much more. We all know that people who went to the concerts are satisfied with what they have seen (as usually, everyone who goes to any concert thinks that his/her show was the best one) and that the audience as whole loves the shitty songs. So there is not that much of a chance that something would happen till people in Europe will sit down and start booing during LH, WGIGO, WLOL, WSYCGM, ILTT etc etc..

I just can't see them coming to the 02 and drastically changing anything. Iv got tickets for the last weekend and unless these setlists get exceptionally more varied I wont be buying anymore.

The thing I don't understand is why so many people are getting so irate over shows they are not even attending!! Yes, the setlists are mostly the same every night, but unless you are attending every single show on the tour - does it really matter?! I would rather see excellent performances by the band, which seems to be happening from the majority of reviews I've read, then hear a couple of rare songs. So many people ruin things for themselves by never being satisfied. There are plenty of rare songs that I would love to hear, but I am not going to be upset/angry if I don't. Fair enough if you go to a concert and you don't enjoy it for various reasons because that is your own opinion, but I don't understand how you can diss concerts you haven't even been to. But maybe I'm missing something, who knows? Luckily for me, I can't wait for the o2 shows :)

What's funny about all of this is the amount of European people bitching about the sets. C'mon people, you are sure to get you're great sets especially at the O2.

If you're American, well then you are screwed unless you are going to Giants and possibly Chicago.

at the O2 you lucky sods will get to witness The Circle being played in its entirety. Lucky bastards, and to think that that night alot of people would go home dissapointed.....

It doesn't matter for me since I can't go to any shows, so no differences if it is in Europe or in America - those are just shows by my favourite band.

I have to admit that I was lucky to see great shows - all of them (well, 3). It is not that easy to get to see them if you are from the central Europe which is taken as East Europe by everyone from West, so at least if I go to see them in Munich, I'll get a great show. You, in America, are spoilt with getting so many shows so it must be balanced :P

They're not going to play the same set for fifteen nights in the same city, no matter what. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised (so long as you don't happen to be there the night they decide to play the whole Lost Highway album) which I hope they'll never do.

Like I said earlier, and Jon confirmed in the documentary. The Prudential shows didn't go over well. He knows this. He won't want to make the same mistake with something like an 02 run which gets A LOT of publicity.

Yes, Bon Jovi play a good number of shows in America but it seems you have some misconceptions about shows over here and the fact that we are "spoiled".

First of all, most of these dates are relatively spread out except for some of the Northeast dates. I can't go travel across the coutry to see them so it doesn't matter from my standpoint whether they play 10 shows or 40 shows in America. I'm still only gonna be able to see 1 or 2 shows because of the fact that I am still in school and can't afford to miss much school to travel. My college tuition is nearly $1,000 per week without any other expenses. So, I wouldn't go see Bon Jovi in California as it would make absolutely no sense.

Plus, it doesn't help that some of our more visible members are the ones that can travel around ;)

So from my standpoint, I'd happily trade a great setlist for maybe 1 or 2 shows. I wouldn't be bothered by not being able to see multiple shows of the same set. But yes, I still want other fans who are in my shoes who can only go to a few concerts to have great sets and not a average, lazy set.
