This is too epic to keep under wraps, the unmasking of the Greed Hornet of rock. With a shout out to the girls of Blonde Jovi, well they used to be called that until the Jersey syndicate filed a cease and desist against 'em. Only Lefsetz would have the balls to publish and disseminate such a rant to his mailing list of 50k. Blood on blood? I prefer a vintage Pinot, one I can get for under a thousand bucks...http://lefsetz.com/wordpress/

Nothing new there, just some dumb fan crying because he realised he paid too much for his ticket.

What was he expecting? to smoke a few Cubans with Tico in a hot tub before the show? Go on a bike ride with Richie? Or have a romantic meal with Jon?

I find it somewhat reassuring that the band don't whore themselves out for every rich sucker that goes backstage.

Indeed!

Besides, if this article is supposed to prove anything it ought to be reliable. Who would give credit to a piece of anonymous writing? In fact anybody can write anonymously about anyone and anything he or she wants. I can write right now a blasphemous article about the Prime Minister of my country (no President for a moment - he is dead - killed in plane crash), about my ex university teachers, about Lady Gaga, about God, about blah blah blah, about anyone. And I can write whatever comesa to my imagination and put no name under the text and say that it is to avoid trouble. But how can I be reliable then?
But even if this article is not fictitious aimed to stirr sensastion, indignation or anger among masses, still I will ask - so what? For me it is natural that when you go to a show, you just go to the show and not direct your first steps backstage to have a cigarette with Tico:D and a glass of wine with Jon. I would lose respect for myself if I tried to ask someone to kindly admit me backstage and have a minute with the band members. It is as if I were trying to admit I am a lower kind of a human being who begs for favour of being allowed to etc etc.

There is something about that letter that just doesn't add up. I agree with Marta. It almost sounds like one of our trolls did some creative writing and sent it in.

eddie73 05-24-2010 10:35 PM

But we all know they are in it for the money, its not about the music or being creative anymore, i dont think this geezer was expecting to meet the band, but probably expected them not to be damn right rude ( the crew ). For those that were lucky enough to see them in the 80s, we can see the change, at least i can, it used to be about the music, the live experience, not any more its about making as much spondollies as they can and ripping off the fans

marta anna 05-24-2010 10:48 PM

I do not think it was not about money in the 80s. If they made so much money on Slippery/NJ it means they were not making their music for free. For which I do not blame them - if you are in music business you want to earn on it as much as possible. So long as people are ready to pay for it - why not.

Besides, I would not say that nowadays it is not for music. If Jon spends time and effort to work on his voice, to regain high register, to put up a good massive show etc etc - how can you say it is not about music? Come on! If Jon and the guys go on 2-year tour and put all effort to play and sound well - is it not about passion? If you are money oriented you can do it in a differnt way as well.

as to the rudeness of the crew - If it is true I do not like it.
Still we can here the story only from one point of view and do not know the truth of the other side of the conflict. Besides, who knows if what is written there is true. It could have been written by anyone who had a purpose in it.

This is one of the most backwards and naive statements I've read here.

Very well said. Agree with every word.

If this story is true then the man is already upset and will be annoyed by everything due to his state of mind. So a large pinch of salt is required i believe.
