Though I fear to see them facing the Dutch team in the finals, I do hope Germany will make it to the finals anyway. It would be the most exciting game for Holland in years!

Excellent, we beat the Krauts and didn't even have to play them. Very good, now all there's left is Spain. Can't watch it because I'm off to the Saratoga show, but I reckon everyone in the car will be cheering for the Dutch team anyway when someone gets a hold of a good live stream on their iPhones. :)

Yeah we should, Russ. But I don't know if we will - Spain played a fab game yesterday (WTF had happened with the Germans? This was their worst game in this WC). But they had troubles with the actual scoring part, so that might help. Hopefully Sneijder will be at the right spot at the right moment, like he was in previous games. And hopefully Van Marwijk will keep Van Persie on the bench this time :S

It's gonna be a good final I think between two good teams. I'm up for Spain though as I think they're probably the best team in the tournament and I do like to see the best team win.

I really hope it is Spain's chance just because I love Spain and have lots of Spanish friends (and because I'm from Argentina, I guess every Latin-Spanish speaking country will be supporting them). But if the Dutch win it will be ok too.

Yes they do stand a chance. A big chance. They key is in the midfield and I think the Netherlands are a bit more unpredictable. With De Jong and Van Bommel as well as Sneijder, Robben and Kuyt, Netherlands has a better midfield than Germany had. It will be a very even game and I predict Robben deciding it. Spain doesn't have anyone like him right now (no idea what is up with Torres).

Saying "you don't stand a chance" is simply moronic, despite your little ":P" at the end of it.

Sneijder has been the player of the tournament for me, whereas Spain really havent played all that well- and to be honest they havent needed to. Torres has been absymal so far, but he has been saved by the brilliance of Villa. It will be interesting to see if Spain can shift it up a great and put in a world cup winning performance

Yeah, I also think our midfield is just great - especially Van Bommel played a fantastic WC. The Dutch team doesn't play a 'flaming' kind of football, but they are very solid and also very patient before taking a good use of the few opportunities they get. I do kinda hope Spain will make the first goal, because our team plays better when there's still need to put everything in it they have.

I thought it was a very good match and although it could have been either Spain or Holland, Spain always was a bit close to the goal.

Yeah, Spain deserved it. You just always felt they posed the greater threat going forward so congrats to them... although my wife and I lost the £50 we would have won if Spain had lost. :(

I don't necessarily agree with the somewhat harsh pundit comments that they felt no sympathy for the Dutch as they tried to squeeze the life out of the game - how else are you supposed to beat Spain unless you try to stop them passing it?

That said, it's hardly surprising that before the final even kicked off, Holland had committed the most fouls of the tournament and Spain were the most fouled team in the WC so far. That says it all, and I have no idea how Van Bommel lasted the full 90mins of any game he played in these finals. Some of his tackling was awful.

Still, well done Spain - European and World champions! :D
