Did Bon Jovi disown 'Bounce'?
Did the band ever comment or admit at any point that they dislike Bounce? I've noticed during the past three tours (HAND to Circle) that they hardly play ANY songs off Bounce, the most recent I saw I think was 'Open All Night' at the O2. Instead of playing Capt Crash and We Got it Goin On, why not play Undivided or Bounce? If the band truly wanted to take The Circle in a rock direction, they should also make their set lists more rock oriented to fit the theme. Instead they still play I Love This Town, We Got It Going On...give those songs a rest, bring back the more rock sounding tunes!
Oh and, whatever happened to the song 'One Wild Night'? They stopped playing that one live altogether. |
I was just thinking this morning how much I miss 'Undivided', 'The Distance', 'Bounce' and a few other tracks. It's far from a classic album but does have a few forgotten gems on it.

Well, as far as I know, no other Jovi album failed commercialy as badly as Bounce. Coming after the succesful Crush and It's My Life, they did a shitload of promotion for Bounce, including shows and expensive videos. And it failed miserably. So what's the point? IMO the album sucks. At least songs like Captain Crash and I Love This Town are liked by a large part of Jovi fanbase (I'm being one of them) and they represent the optimistic, upbeat and anthemic Bon Jovi style much better than those crappy "hard rock" songs like Bounce, Everyday, Hook Me Up. They sucked live back in the day and I believe they'd suck even more now. It makes sense that if you play songs that you know don't work very well live, at least play new songs. Only oldies that work live should still be played in 2010. Don't get me wrong, just like any other Bon Jovi album, Bounce also has some good songs, but the only one I miss in setlists is Misunderstood.

I'd disown Bounce if I made it, tbh.

I always thought that it was because in general the songs didn't work that well live (the songs didn't work on the Bounce tour, the only other time I've personally heard songs from that album live was Glasgow 2006, when they played Everyday and it still didn't work.
The friend that I went to that gig with reckons it may also be to do with the fact that because much of the album was written around/about 9/11 the band feel that the songs are too much engrained to them with the memories of that time and place in time-now its not that time and place, bye-bye Bounce songs! Personally I'm not sure about that...memories about the poor performance of the album are more likely to bother the band than anything else:rolleyes: |
with the right single choices, bounce would do much better....and for me, anyone who says that it is worse than LH or TLFR is totally stupid.besides, bounce tour had the best stage ever...

Second line of bold - I love those songs! |
misunderstood is more annoying than I Love This Town, at least the chorus anyway. I'm glad I at least got to hear Hook Me Up and Undivided once in my life anyway, but either way.....bring back ONE WILD NIGHT!!!
