Free Bon Jovi Show Oct 15 Alabama

Two of the biggest names in music will use their star power to help bring attention and tourists back to the Alabama Gulf Coast. The two free concerts on the beach are slated for the weekend of October 15th-17th in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with Bon Jovi performing on Friday, October 15th and Brad Paisley performing on Sunday, October 17th. These two shows signify the next installments of Alabama's "Concerts For The Coast" event series.

The shows, which are FREE to the public, will be ticketed events. Tickets will be available through Gulf Shores and Orange Beach lodging partners starting Wednesday, September 8th. For a list of accommodations offering reservation packages with free tickets, visit http://gulfshores.com/packages-deals/.

A limited number of tickets will be available for local distribution to area residents on Saturday, September 11th. A valid government issued photo ID is required and there is a 2-ticket limit per person available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Gulf Shores is only a 6 hour drive for me, but I think I've talked myself out of trying to go to this. Here's a picture of what it looked like for the free Jimmy Buffet concert in July:

I had a great time at the free concert in Central Park. I don't think I should push my luck!

it's for a good cause right ?
but is it done every year ? (jimmy buffet last year) OK edited to say that I saw it was not last year but last july ...now I understand
unless I was living there I would probably not go BUT I LOVED Scheveningen so maybe the vanilla show can bring some surprises

These concerts are being put on using some of the money that BP has paid because of how the oil spill has decimated the Gulf region. Tourism in that area has taken a huge hit, and the concerts are an attempt to get people back into the area to see that the beaches aren't black with oil, etc. That's why tickets are connected with lodging in the area. The Jimmy Buffet concert was on July 11 and evidently the place was packed for that, but I saw a survey of hotel operators after that which showed that hotel bookings were continuing to drop.
