My choice of " circle " singles

Ok not a bad album but no means great. Like discussed before somewhere the band are shit ( if it is the band ) at choosing singles.

My choices would of been

1-LTOR-Modern but not straying to far away from their sound.
2-BPL OR TIMS-Think radio would of picked up on those 2 especially in Europe
3 HAPPY NOW- The "I believe" of this record. Best thing they done in years despite crappy solo.

LEARN TO LOVE

What you all think

I just wish they would play learn to love live. It's a song that I didn't like that much to begin with, but it's one of my favorites now.

I don't think they selected the wrong songs as singles.

I don't know why ST bombed, I guess people are tired of Bon Jovi lately.

Best regards,
the Sexx

1st single: We Weren't Born To Follow
Yes I think it's the best choice. It's poppy, catchy, uptempo, great chorus and radio friendly. Everything a 1st single need. And for myself I love the song. At least where I live Born To Follow is one of the best known Jovi songs easily. It's very common people knows the chorus by heart !

2nd single: Superman Tonight
Yes so far I'm agreed with Bon Jovi. Think it's a great song. Amazing chorus, and amazing vocals. The song really hits you right away. Pity Bon Jovi didn't do any more promo.

3rd Single: Love's the Only Rule
It sounds very modern and fresh and is easy to take in. Every sequence in the song is great by it self and the chorus is something else ! To be honest I think they would have had to edit it down to a radio edit if they were to release this one. It's a little to long. But amazing !

I understand many people think I'm crazy with my choice but I think it's the best choices. Born To Follow is the only real radio song on The Circle. As a album there aren't many straight head pop songs. And that's not a bad thing ;)

I would have picked them differetly:
1. Thorn in my side
2. Happy now
3. Love's the only rule
4. Superman Tonight

WWWB is a great song that I love but it's in no way single material as far as radio goes.
They could have done the different singles in different formats thing bands like Nickelback do with their albums.

Release Love's the only rule as leading single.
Then as a second single release Superman for pop radio and Thorn in my side for rock radio. I'm no expert it's just a strategy that could work for them since their albums cover different styles.....

I definitely would have chose Work For The Working Man as the first single. It has the recession topic which Jon was using to push the album, it would work at radio and virtually every person I know who has heard that song but normally wouldn't be into Bon Jovi loves the song.

You just know its Bon Jovi right off the bat with the Livin on a Prayer base line.

I would always have chosen Superman Tonight as the second single, then either Love's The Only Rule or Thorn In My Side as the third.

Don't think it matters much to be honest beyond the first single as that's the only one that seems to get any attention or any promotion.

Happy Now

Loves the only rule

Superman

Really wanted to hear Happy Now live ... the songs they chose to play were not crowd pleasers , might have been different had they chosen other songs.

That would have been a disaster. Think about how we all reacted to the song and lyrics. Then multiply it by 5 for the public who already know/think they are purely out for the money and to capitalize on anything. Not to mention it's a horrible song to begin with that didn't seem to excite anybody live.
