It's certainly a compliment that they were nominated the "instant" they became eligible, but I think that's as far as they'll get, especially since Alice Cooper has been waiting for his nomination since 1994.

Only Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles have gotten in the year they became eligible. Bruce Springsteen was inducted the following year; Kiss, eligible since 1999, are STILL waiting. And speaking of politics (what do LL Cool J and Chic have to do with Rock and Roll?), the Ramones probably wouldn't have gotten in as "quickly" as they did if half of them hadn't died!

And I think we all realize that induction is a long shot. They've never been the darlings of the right crowd. THAT's why we're amazed by the nomination.
