Clean-Up Poor Sound Quality?

Not sure if this is the right forum or even board to ask but does anyone know if it's possible to clean-up sound quality of a poorly recorded song?

I have some live stuff were I'd like to edit out the screaming and get rid of some hissing in the background.

It's really subjective - a bit of hiss is pretty easy to get rid of - especially tape hiss. If it's worse than tape hiss you can use the noise reduction process in Adobe Audition to sample the noise and then only remove those frequencies.
Screaming is not so easy - Adobe Audition now has brushes (integrated from Photoshop with the spectral view) that can remove some of the worst screaming. You can always lower the sound level where the screaming is the worst with an equalizer too, choosing your frequencies very carefully. Keep in mind that most of these methods will lose some good frequencies too. It's a balance, especially if you are only dealing with 2 tracks to begin with.

Please inform me, too.

There are 2 songs out there IŽd do almost anything to own as a proper good quality recording. The first one is Nothing and the other one is Cadillac Man. Some dreams never come true.

Depends on what kind of noise it is, if the recording is really bad, then it would be nearly impossible to clean it without some pro audio software
If it is just minor noise you can use Audacity. It's free download
You can find the download link on Google search

Thanks to everyone for answering.

There are a few I'd like to try. I'm not artistic and have no ear for music so I'll probably butcher it anyway.

- There are a few Christmas songs I'd like to try and clean (Drummer Boy & Silent Night)

- The few mentioned above

- Some listening party from '98 (Life's Too Short For Days, Good Ain't Good Enough, Shadow Dancing)
