The GH is doing outstandingly well in The UK / Irish charts.

The album that beat it to No.1 is now #15. I can see it sticking around the top ten until late January.

so true, i still can't get my head around on how big, country has become in the U.S., i remember the only person who got #1 albums was garth brooks.

but bon jovi is not rock at all their sales/tracks are always counted in adult contemporary lately (In france they translate that by music for middle aged ..LOL kinda true but discriminative too)
Deb I can see what you mean honestly but then why the gap between the usa and canada then ? that GH works well everywhere EXCEPT THE USA ... it's just the usa where the GH is doing kinda 'bad' we have to stop deny the obvious ...true that rock doesn't sell well but I think it's a combination of many reasons and if BON JOVI was true rock I would get it but it's not ... EMINEM sold 800 000 the first week and didn't left the TOP 5 spot for one month ...because also it was very much seen as a WELCOME BACK .. if he had a cd out like bj every 1,5 year he wouldnt be that good nor that successful the band did too much .. I would say they were too greedy wanting to explode the roof ... I really REALY hope Jon won't come up with a change in the plans and the band back mid 2012

It just seems to be a cycle. When they are big everywhere else they aren't that big here in terms of record sales. I'm sure if the record company knew what to do to get the same results in all countries they'd do it. I'm just not so sure the record company even expected the GH package to sell gangbusters in the US but who knows.

The U.S. market is quite different from the rest of the world. Eminem vs. Bon Jovi may not be a fair comparison. They belong to different genres, Bon Jovi has been around way longer than Eminem. CD sales in general have dropped. Nowadays the only acts selling massive numbers are not Rock acts anymore, rather rappers, pop-country acts, controversial / novelty acts and those targeted at tweens. Bon Jovi does not fit any of these categories.

Also Bon Jovi has never done massive weekly numbers in the U.S. since the release of New Jersey. Their biggest sales week since then has been the opening week of Lost Highway (292,000). So success in U.S. has to be measured in relative terms. Also, gone are the days in the U.S. when these Hits packages flew off the shelves from the get-go. They sell modestly but consistently, resulting in being evergreen titles for the labels. Not considering other rock acts, Britney Spears' Greatest Hits was released last year the same week TC was released. It debuted below # 80 and then disappeared. Her last studio album was a multi-million seller in America.

The thing that is obvious is that tweens and teens are not interested in Bon Jovi in the American market. And probably we, the fans have unrealistic expectations regarding our favourite band's current chart performances.

I am reading your message and truly wonder AS said you are from pakistan ... I mean , come on , you are telling me about the reality of the music world wide situation and about the usa market but just like me it's just opinion as you are not from that usa market either .... you are just posting your opinion and not facts ...
I accept any opinion as what they are :opinions ... but something doesn't click for me about your extensive knowledge in music and your location (I know it sounds very unkind comment but let's be realistic something just doesn't fit ...)

I said before I don't care nor even want bon jovi to score in the charts AT ALL.....I am not seeking for the super band super loved super beautiful super sexy super successful and superficial ... the day they won't base their musical production on charts (at nearly 50) music will improve and will be much more honest
