Serious Question
Are people on this forum just piss takers. In my opinion you represent everything that is wrong with society. Do u even like bon jovi, are you even real fans. You sound like the kind of people who go to a concert and just sit there and dont participate. I hope the embers from your youll tide log slip off your fireplace and burn your house down.

Burn your house down? A bit extreme, don't you think?

I think this place has always erred on the critical side, in much that BS verges on the sycophantic side. For the most part, the criticisms are done out of love for the band and the hope that they can wow us and others with what they are capable rather than going through the motions half-assed- be it on records, tours or releases. A case in point being the greatest hits DVD. No fan can possibly be happy with that turd- and its no slight on the band, its just we know there can be a better representation instead of a handful of videos and the same old live performances.

Well most people dont go and see bon jovi to hear a rare song most people go and see them to hear all of the hits and couldnt give a damn about the rare stuff. So in reality if i took my cousin she'd rather here the hits then she would the rare song.

Personally I don't really care what they play and I don't stew away over the fact they only ever play Wanted, Prayer and It's My Life on promo shows. And fwiw, I think the vast majority of ire in the ITV show thread was aimed at the overall production of the show which is ITV's fault, not the bands. |
The same speeches, and even the same dance moves. Other bands manage to mix it up a bit, and they can too. They have enough hits to switch things around and still please the casual fans. Bon Jovi put on awesome shows regardless, but it costs a lot of money to keep seeing the same show over and over again.

Some of us would love to hear rare songs played live because we know pretty much everything they ever put out since the 1st album they ever released, because we probably have seen them live several times and seen Prayer being played in every single one of their shows. I can not imagine a show that is missing Prayer from its setlist. Regardless of it being one of my favourites, if I'm asked what song I'd like to hear, Prayer is not on my mind because it's a given.
Being a fan doesn't mean having your critical judgement at a zero level. It certainly doesn't mean you have to enjoy every single thing they put out (or any other band, writer or painter who have been around for as long as they have, for that matter). It's a natural thing to the human being to have opinions over different things in life. I don't consider myself less of a fan because I don't like a particular performance or song, as I don't consider someone a bigger fan than me just because they (say they) like everything. That's possible (?) but that sounds fake to me. I don't like a lot of the stuff they released, especially in recent years, but you still see me spend big bucks to see them, including travelling to other countries and spending hours queueing or whatever. I'm not stuck in their 80's or 90's sound, I appreciate and enjoy many different kinds of music. I just think some of their latest stuff is weak. Doesn't mean I'm not a fan. |
