In your opinion, what are their best live performances?
Last couple weeks I've been listening to my BJ Bootlegs, from pretty much every era, and comparing how the band sounded on each tour.
In my opinion, the best tour ever was the These Days tour. Some reasons: -The band was on their prime back then, sounding awesome live, more mature I guess! - Jon's voice was also perfect, he was able to reach the high tunes without sounding like a teenager. - These Days is by far my favorite album, needless to say, HG, TAALS, TD, Damned were regulars, what makes any setlist looks incredible. - On top of that, the best cover songs they ever did were played often during this tour... Rocking in The Free World, Rocking All Over The World, Jumpin,Jack Flash duo with I`ll Sleep when I'm Dead was killer! - Jon played harmonica at the end of These Days!:mrgreen: |
The setlists seemed pretty short on the these days tour though, For me I'd say the One Wild Night tour was them at their best in both terms of both setlists and the quality of their sound. Keep the Faith and Raise Your Hands from Giants was amazing

In terms of how they sounded, 1988-90. No contest.
Keep The Faith tour was pretty solid as well. |

One Wild Night Tour - 1990 - |
To me, they sounded best on the 2nd European leg of the Jersey Syndicate tour in late '89 and on the 1st European leg of the Keep The Faith tour in April of 1993. They were also very good on the Crossroads tour and the These Days tour was great as well. I also love many of the US shows of the recent Circle tour and think they were among the best the band delivered the past decade when it comes to the quality of the sound delivered.
But THE ultimate show for me still is and probably always will be Munich 2003! There just everything was so perfect...from the surprising appearance of so many TD songs to the overall performance the band delivered for the whole 3 hours to the Audience which was so into the show as I rarely experienced anywhere else afterwards. It was just one of those rare magical nights :) Helsinki 1996 and Rotterdam 1989 rank right behind Munich in my list of my favourite 3 Jovi shows :) |
why isn't there any video from munich 2003??....people didn't have cameras in 2003 or what??

I was in Wien 2003 and it is my favorite Jovi all time show and also my first. I think band was on fire and there was some kind of magic in the air...:) But i think that Munich 2003 was far far best show in this decade and also the longest show. Wish i was there that night! But i still dont get it...why there arent any video recordings. I would die for some video ;) My best tours : 1. These days 2. KTF 3. Bounce 4. New Jersey 5. Circle tour |
Munich 2003 Kiel 2003 Mannheim 2003 those 3 shows were outstanding ....I was there it was magic
they had great performances live all the time through their career ....I don't think it's easy fair or accurate to put their tours inside boxes as great or good or middle of the road or bad tours though... I have read here that the bounce tour was terrible with Jon having a bad voice but I didn't witness that problem actually I cannot judge shows I was not at unless it's really terrible YT doesn't show enough ... I have done around 100 shows I never had a really bad one even Hull ;) ...to be honest many were good in a average way for picky fans I guess but for me as I was there it was nothing but a good time ..I loved Wien in 2001 and in 2003 too .. german shows are always fantastic I think the shows in the 90's were probably the best because for the band it was not as draining as the 80's and still fun and appealing and exciting enough (today you can feel they are emotionally jaded seeking for recognition and best tour gross announcement more than having a genuine connection with an audience through a performance... but the magic STILL happen I loved most of the O2 shows ) |

I think LH tour is the worst. Jon's voice was nasaly and iffy all tour, and the violin just kills it for me. Of course this, as well as every tour, it has its highs and lows. The 80's were great, but the live stuff just doesn't do it for me. Very flashy, which I don't really like too much. And BTW, I think the Giants performance of Prayer is one of their best. Yes, I'm crazy, I will reiterate. Quote:

I'd have to say the Jersey Tour was my favorite even though Jon suffered vocally. There was so much energy in their performances and had the best opener. I will never forget Jon rising up from the floor with the sparks of pyro surrounding him.
I would say The Circle tour for me would come second These Days Tour and Keep The Faith tours would be my 3rd and 4th choice. |
