jon's shrugging when signing tough songs

I'm a singer myself, not trained by a coach or anything but i've always heard from other people and producers indeed, that you should not shrug your shoulders when trying to sing tough notes. if you look at videos of jovi in the mid night ninties and roughly up till 2002, jon had a much more relaxed posture back then. if you look at him now, he looks like he's trying to take a crap the size of a u-boat (571, c'mon just say it). I'm sure there'a reason for that, he simply didn't de-learned all he knew in the past. but it still puzzles me.

Oh Jon, wouldn't it be easier if you just gave the hard core fans some satisfaction ? we've been moaning about your singing since 2002. you've had up and downs ever since. we cheered you and then we slammed you. then cheered and them slammed. and so on and so forth.

you may say " I don't have to tell you folk shit" but we're the ones who keep the machine oily and working because we're the ones who buy the records and tickets for the concerts and all the merchandising.

A video on facebook perhaps ? " hi folks this is jon bon jovi. I know you hardcore fans have been wondering...."

just a thought. don't blame me, it's 5.22 in the morning.

That was bad. :D

As to the shrugging, I have no idea. I was wondering about that too.

I've noticed that. Specially during always... weird

I don't know anything about singing, but am I correct in saying that Jon's technique these days is very different to the old days. Hitting the high notes in always was effortless in the 90s. Today it's a strain and maybe the only reason he can do is because of a modified technique..

I agree with you I would love to know more about his voice / singing.
I've said this before I don't understand why it's such a taboo subject in all interviews, the blame for this has to go to the media not Jon, but nobody ever wants to talk to him about singing technique in detail or how is voice has progressed over the years, where he is trying to improve etc... Same goes for the other band members- nobody seems to ask Richie many interesting questions about guitar playing. It would be infinitely more interesting than the usual 'how do you stay together for 25 years'.

i can't stop laughing over the comment that he looks like he's taking a crap the size of a U571!! hahaha. His technique has changed for sure. I have no singing knowledge whatsoever, but it seems he has more of a yell these days to hit those high notes, especially in always.

:p ah ah

well yeah, any question other than " how do you guys manage to stay together for 25 years ? " would be interesting.

the worst of it all is that he sometimes ends up sounding like Kermit the frog or as I once painted out, somebody's grandmother in her 80s.

very interesting thread .... he does have changed his posture a lot lately and he is very tensed and not at all looking relaxed and I would think he is not having the right body attitude but well that's his body I guess he has a reason to do it that way ... but in the 80'S 90's he was definitely not making those weird faces he does today when he sings

hen has more technics but he is less 'magic'

I heard he doesn't give many autographs these days, so he must have trouble signing.
