This seemed like a completely different band than the one I had seen two years prior at that amazing show in Cologne..plus I had seen Bruce & the E-Street band at the same venue only 2 weeks before and they are VERY tough to follow.

it's ok it was just a personal note about the show my daughter was your age when she fainted (not that it is any interesting) I think the venue is not good that day they let whoever enter the front pit we were packed like sardines and the roof was not open (not totally closed but still not fully open) and it was too hot in there
I recall the show for the last song and Uta fainting ...yesterday by total coincidence I found the photos I took on that show the guys look don't show that she show as very average

As for Box Set songs, am I right in saying that the following songs were performed less than 10 times?...

Miss Fourth Of July
Garageland
I Get A Rush
Only In My Dreams
Why Aren't You Dead?
These Arms Are Open All Night
Thief of Hearts
Last Man Standing
Love Ain't Nothing But A Four Letter Word
Good Guys Don't Always Wear White

Im not sure if Open All Night on the Box Set was played more, I think it was? And I know Radio has been played heaps.

LMS less than 10 times? You think? ;)

Of these songs, the only one I have not heard live is Good Guys..

Best Thread Ever.....

Im actually shocked there arent more songs on here - maybe im a tad rough on the guys at times eh?......shhhhhhh

still ridiculous.....

but wow IIWYM rocked!!!! JBJ could totally pull that off live - even better now - plus musically that version is tight and he was feelin it at least with the verbal riffing....

this should be a sticky thread so mike and obie LIVE it and are reminded constantly....

You all, forget one of my favourite Bon Jovi song like,BITTER WINE.I think it has neven been played live.
This song would be perfect for the acoustic part of the shows.but they prefer playing WSYCGH once and once and once again....

I'll get round to bonus tracks soon. As far as I know, the only bonus track played on decent rotation was All I Want Is Everything on the These Days tour.

I have added a 10-25 list, but again im not 100% sure on the figures. If anyone knows if they are incorrect or if any songs are missing, please let me know :) (I think She Don't Know Me, Social Disease and 99 In the Shade may have been played more than 25 times? Can someone confirm?).

Approximately 10 to 25 times
(?)
(?)
(?)

I havent bothered adding NA and TMTC because they'll surely both pass the 25 play count.

Nice thread -

There are obviously going to be numerous opinions on what is considered a "rare" song and what isn't.. What I want to bring up is the rarity of a song off of an album like "The Circle," let's choose "Learn To Love;" now the album is only about a year-and-a-half old, and the boys have been touring since "The Circle" came out, however placing into perspective the fact that irregardless, the album hasn't been out that long; there are other songs from WAY older albums that haven't been played much, or at all...

Let's now choose the song "Stick To Your Guns" from "New Jersey." We're talking over 20-years since this album was released and the song has only been played what, a couple of times? I love this song; I would obviously consider it a rarity.. Even more of a a rarity over "Learn To Love," which hasn't even been played at all.

Understand where I am trying to go with this? Just one point of many that can be presented.

Do you define a rarity as a song that either A.) hasn't ever been played regardless of how long it's been out? B.) a song that hasn't been played much (a few times), if at all on a Jovi album over five-years old? Or a certain length of your choosing? C.) .... Your definition.

I look forward to seeing what others have to bring to the table in terms of their definition of a "rarity."

Thanks!

Understood, and agree completely. Obviously the less played songs on the older albums would be considered much more rare than the newer ones. But the point I was trying make when I made this thread was which songs are rare now, and at the same time were rare when they were first released. Just because a song isnt on the list in the opening post of this thread, doesn't mean it's not rare. Take I Believe for example. Played just 3/4 times this decade, so it would be considered rare. But when it was released during the KTF tour, it was played at over 50% of the shows.

If that makes sense? lol

My aim of this thread is to see which songs have been playd the least over the band's entire career. Perhaps I could have chosen a better thread title haha.

interesting thoughts .. I cannot stand learn to love though imo it is cheap but peace ..I respect that you love that one

to me a rarity is GREAT If it is a good song that is almost never played or never played
It has to be a great underrated song too to make me happy to get it ....save the world would not make me happy ....

Love Save The World and would be over the moon to hear it live...but yes, I know I'm in the minority!! I know the song is cheezy but I've always been drawn to it since I first heard it.

but Deb I love you (!) and if I was with you at that show I am sure I would be HAPPY too ... as your optimism is very contagious ...
I know for example many fans love miss fouth of july this song does absolutely nothing to me so for me it is just a not played often song NOT a rarity ... the rarity factor includes for me the fact I am happy to get a song not played often because I love it ..if the song is one I don't like much I won't qualify it as rarity but as not played often (rarity has to also define quality song)

Thank you for the compliment! :) Yes, I would love to hear "Learn to Love." I love the "Halle, halle" parts of the song. It is definitely one of my favorite songs off of "The Circle," along with "Brokenpromiseland."

And your point in that a rarity is great if it is a good song that is almost never played is more than prominent enough in that there will probably be many people that either feel a rarity is exactly that (your opinion) or your opinion, added with the "insert year-length here" factor.

Should be interesting to read future posts pertaining to this thread's message.

Savvi 02-19-2011 05:48 PM

I too am a fan of Save the World and Learn to Love... just putting it out there lol. As for Miss Fourth of July, for me it is one of my least favourite Bon Jovi songs... definately bottom 10.

Interesting way of seeing things Mimi. If I were to get a rare song on the list that I hate, say She's a Mystery, I would enjoy it in that moment because I know it is so rare. I probably wouldnt get fully into it, but id soak it up anyway simply for its rarity.

Crushgen24/88 02-19-2011 09:10 PM

The thing is, we all have our own definitions of what really constitutes rare when it comes to this band.

exactly - but brian, just because they forgot to add the last 18 "Its Alright"'s and only played the first 3,694 "It's Alright"'s during WSYCGO one night in Australia doesnt make it a rarity...

cmon man...lets be serious here...go raise your hands.....

ps
cmon man ... laugh ONCE at at reference i make just for you - i work very hard on them my friend! :)

Haja 02-20-2011 12:55 AM

A rarity is something that is not common. So any song they haven't played often is a rarity. Well, at least for me.

It is true , though when people make a mix between the rare factor and the gem song factor it may then turns out slightly different

bjcrazycpa 02-20-2011 01:35 AM

For me rare is the literal definition, meaning valued for it's uncommonness. So, even if I don't like the song if it hasn't been performed often then it's rare.

That's pretty much my view too.

I was just thinking, Open All Night (the Bounce version) was so unexpected to played live. It wasn't even played live on the Bounce tour. It wasnt until the Lost Highway tour that it was played for the first time (I think), and now about 5 times on The Circle tour. Am I the only one who finds that bizarre? Even though we all know Jon loves the song.

They should do this with some of their other songs *cough* Without Love *cough*.

Yeah strange... first time that this happened, I think: That they premiered a song long after the original tour of the album it belongs to. But with this band we have learned lately to never say never.
Even if I'm not sure what is the bigger disappointment: That they don't play "Tokyo Road", "Homebound Train", "Let It Rock", "This Ain't A Love Song", "Roulette" for years, one dares to say: decades, then dust them off, just to forget about them after just one (!) or a couple of performances...

I'm still waiting for "Learn To Love" to be premiered. I thought it would be an obvious live song. When they hit Europe in summer, I still want it to be "The Circle Tour" and I want them to play all those song I haven't heard yet. That just as a sidenote. ;-)

TheDreamer 02-24-2011 04:39 AM

I've always wanted them to play Fields of Fire.

I never thought it was played. Just found it...

This is very rare and somewhat raw since it is the first time even before the studio version. I really love the lyrics and passion in this song. Ya never know..they might play it..anything in this life is possible. ;)

TheDreamer 02-27-2011 04:44 AM

"Let's Make it Baby" was played 1 time that I know of.

Here's a review that I found listing it on the setlist in 98' at the FC trip in Florida. I was there and almost dropped my drink when it started. Great memory. :)

when he said that most fans were very surprised as it was like he was referring to songs that were not from their own catalogue ... a few fans were asking why are DLS and Unbreakable bonus on some editions and Jon replied because those songs suck ...

LOL that also meant the so called *sucky songs* were just good enough as bonus for overseas edition

Savvi 03-09-2011 04:02 AM

Dirty Little Secret doesnt suck at all :o

I kind of see it as a follow up to Damned in terms of subject matter.

crashed 03-09-2011 04:07 AM

I think DLS is probably the best thing on HAND. Wonder why Jon hates it.

TwinFan 03-09-2011 04:09 AM

Meh. DLS is average, as far as I'm concerned. I like the chorus, but the rest is just boring to me. Damned is an awesome song, this isn't.

Crushgen24/88 03-09-2011 04:34 AM

Eh, I find nothing special about DLS honestly.
