Pyro

What ever happened to the fireworks? They used them at only 3 concerts in 2010, before that, what was it? 2001? I didn't get to experience them first hand, but they looked like they really added to the atmosphere.

I understand why they don't use them in arenas, with the safety issues. But couldn't they use the ones like they did in 1993? LIKE HERE? Or HERE?

I hope they bring the pyro, at least for the European tour. It seems really cool after the build up before the last chorus in Keep the Faith when the fireworks go off with the "FAITH" chant and the crowd goes nuts.

If anything, I'd think it's because pyro in rock shows was often associated with the hair metal era that Bon Jovi tries to avoid being associated with these days.

Although I agree, some pyro would be fantastic!

I recall Pyro in 2001 it was great but I am not that crazy about that ... it can be great (I think nms opening was great and impressive) but well it is something that is more from the past sort of style ...

What's that supposed to mean? From the past? Tonnes of bands still use pyro. old, new, pop, rock, rap, metal, you name it.

It means they did it in the past ...to me the flavor is from the 80's - in 2001 it was not the same impact than in the 80's ... and since then they didn't do it again... I think it's because it is more like a thing they did in the 80's

NMS was great because though was for the venue not for the band imo

bon jovi doing pyro it's like having Jon flying over the audience all over again or wearing spandex

this what I meant....

now you can be sure if they want to do it again they will ...

:confused::confused::confused:

How is that? The pyro is there to enhance the song. Sure, a song, take KTF for example, can sound great in any situation. The fireworks just give it the atmosphere. It excites the crowd, really gets them going. It may be a little too dated if they OVERuse it, but if they use it discreetly like during KTF, or at the keychange in Prayer, it's more of an enhancement.

The pyro in KTF really did add to it at the NMS shows.
That said, I would only want to see it used when it fit. I always thought it was weird how they just shot up a shitload of pyro after the show on the Crush Tour DVD for example.

I've saw pyro twice with Bon Jovi. In 2001 at the Dublin show during KTF and at Hyde Park (London) in 2003, it was at the very end and was a full on fireworks show. I think that was a one off due to it being a huge concert.

I think fireworks add a lot to a show, the crowd go wild and it just makes for a richer experience.

They might have stopped to save on money.

With the ticket prices they've been charging, I really don't think they need to worry about money too much. KISS uses pyro CONSTANTLY during every concert and their tickets are still affordable.

There was this disaster some years ago, I donīt remember if it was Great White or Whitesnake or someone else... Iīve even seen a video shot by someone in the audience.
Obviously the pyro caused a fire that killed an enormous amount of people... There were well over 100 casualties if I remember. There was a chaos when everybody kept trying to escape through the front door of the club, not using the emergency exit that could have saved a lot of lives.
So I think pyrotechincs have sort of a bad name these days (no pun intended).
