standing in a BJ concert ?

are all bon jovi concerts supposed to have seats ? or is it just a US thing ? what happened to the thrill of standing, squished against the fence ? bugger...
on other news: d'you reckon they'll drop the "OH OHs" for good on prayer when they open up with it ? that's the best part.

It's called 'reserved seating' in the US. If you are on main floor/pit or elsewhere, you have a reserved spot vs just all GA and someone basically mounting you from behind etc... Reserved is nice because you get your spot the whole night, rather than battling all night.

Not to me. GA still happens, but it is not the rule and it depends on the artist. In High School (in North Dakota) the shows were always GA. I hated it because instead of focusing on the music it became about trying to keep your position and stay upright when they'd try to make the whole mass collapse by pushing back and forth. I wanted to pay attention to the show, that made it impossible. So I'd wind up standing back away from the stage. The one time I enjoyed it was for Metallica on the Damaged Justice tour and that was because I managed to be front and center. I was able to hold on to the barricade.. still even that wears you out after a while so I wound up making my way out 3/4s into the show.

I think it was a ND thing because they had no system of selling tickets with reserved seating.. no Ticketmaster. Whereas in Denver, CO where I lived prior to that, there was Ticketmaster so when I saw Bon Jovi on the Slippery tour, it was reserved seating.

Wouldn't have it any other way either. Makes for a better atmosphere. It must be a nightmare for short people though.

There's always small guys / girls in the standing area just staring at backs. Never saw the point of that. Buy a seat in the stand.

it's a totally different experience, a totally different vibe. i personally avoid the stands as the atmosphere is not as good. that's never an option i would consider in normal circumstances, and that's definitely a no-no for Jovi. the only 2 times i watched a band in the stands i ended up feeling disappointed with the show and that had everything to do with where i was (i'm not counting with Jovi in 89, i was 10 so that was a different situation). it's just not the same and like you said, i wouldn't have it any other way either. a lot of the excitement is lost. i'm much more willing to risk having backs in my face than having to buy a seat. i hate it that much.

i've always been lucky i guess. never camped out and always managed to get either front row or front row right after the circle in Portugal. i have a pic somewhere... i'll post it when i find it. abroad, GC works just fine as people are more spread out and that allows me to leave enough space in front of me so i can see the stage perfectly, while still being close to it.

Yeah, the seating section is rubbish. Crap sound and people around you acting like they're at a funeral.

I suppose if you get up front in the standing area it's okay. I always want to pick the little people up and put them on my back :p

i forgot Jovi's show in Melbourne in 2001. that was interesting. my boyfriend didn't take into consideration my height so he got tickets and expect us to arrive at the show at 5 or 6pm. as if. i wanted 9am, he wanted 6pm, after a lot of debate we compromised at 11am. and he still thought it was ridiculous arriving that early. when we got to the stadium there were so many people queueing i thought no chance of seing the band on stage. i was in like row 10 or 11 but fortunately aussies like their space around them so that didn't turn out too bad. had to duck a few heads during the show though :p

I have a question about the difference between GA and golden circle in european stadium concerts. I've bought GA ticket for Barcelona concert and want to buy a ticket for Istanbul concert but I'm doubtful about buying a golden circle or GA. If I buy a GA will it be too far from the stage because I've seen the standing plan and golden circle covers the half of the field. waiting for your advices...
