we should all fill a best wishes/get well soon thing here on this forum and find a way to send it to our ol' Richie. what d'ya say ? should give him a small boost to get back on his feet :D

I wouldn't mind to see Bon Jovi with Phil X. a few times. At least the auto-pilot is gone. This guy is a great guitar player. In the long-term ofcourse I'd like Richie to be back in the band.

No, because Richie is an integral part of Bon Jovi, the band we love, (to quote the name of this forum). And from what i've seen he's not doing a better job at all.

I'm pleased that they have someone decent to cover for Richie and the show isn't a disaster with Bobby butchering everything. Just because there is no Richie, doesn't mean we have to want the shows to suck without him- the fans going still deserve a decent gig and it's good that they have a competent guitarist to add to the sound.

I couldn't agree more, I'm glad a decent temporary stand in has been found, I wouldn't want it at my show, but i'm glad that the people going to these shows don't have to suffer Bobby. That being said, the notion that this Phil guy is better in Bon Jovi than Richie is ridiculous.

Why is that exactly? Richie has done nothing spectacular the past 5 years, ever since his alcohol problem got out of control. He's been going through the motions, has been doing the same licks over and over again, even when he was given the freedom to improvise, such as in songs like LYHOM recently. This is actually something you should notice, as you're saying you're a guitar player. What's so fascinating about Richie recently?

This other guitar player shows up and guitar solo's are different again, things get mixed up in the performance, Bobby is suddenly a lot better and the entire guitar sound is a lot less sloppy and has a bit more edge. Just because you are the Richie fanboy doesn't mean that it can't be a better performance without Richie. If anything, Richie has proven right now that he actually can be replaced.
