I was listening to them, wasn't that excited and then it started getting good 5 or so songs in. And then I realized.... wait, those are from his already released albums. The songs sound too much like Nickelback. Gross.

They sound good but it is hard to tell with short clips. I think his voice sounds great!!

Can't wait for the album!!

Let's break this down people. Of the list of songs on the site, if you take out what's already been released:

ASCAP:

According To The Gospel Of Love
Best Days Of My Life
Black And Blue
Con Air (instrumental)
Dirty Fingers
Discipline
For All Of The Love Departed
God Is A Girl
Going It Alone
Let's Get Inside
Lucky Ones, The
Oh, Yeah
Our Secret Place
Pain Where There Once Was A Heart
Rear View Mirror
Unprotected
Willing To Try
Trail Of Broken Hearts

Brand New:

Forever Mine
Get On Up
One Night Understanding
Only Love Can Do
Someday
Somewhere Tonight
Trying Not To Get Over You

My gut tells me the the fist list of songs were just acquired from his catalog that was unreleased but still registered in the directory. I'm digging the new songs. Yeah they're Bon Jovi-esque but sung with a more bluesy register which I've been missing in the bands recent stuff. "Don't give a shit about me" is such a killer line.

Discipline and According to the gospel of love were released on Desmonds solo record with Richie playing guitar and Desmond singing. Willing to try was also released, I think even twice (one in Richie's version and one version by Bo Bice). I think the God is a girl track was released by some female artist/s, too.

don't want to be pessimistic but sounds very very much like recent Bon Jovi stuff. I mean, the sugar daddy song, that's like a We Got It Going On rip off...and the other ones could easily be sung by Jon Bon and be Bon Jovi songs. I guess we'll see but if anything, this made me less enthusiastic about a Richie solo than I was before.

Totally agree, sound is very compressed and the guitar don't sound natural at all. Meh sofar - if these are really samples from his new record.

Wow these songs sounds amazing!

Ain't too fond about Sugar Daddy but the rest three, WOW! His voice is amazing. Especially no. 3 & 4 is amazing! This made me so excited!

I think they sound pretty good, maybe a bit more poppy than I was expecting, but that 4th track sounds like an epic. Pretty excited by these snippets, can't wait for the album.

I guess we should have expected this when Richie announced to be working with Luke Ebbin. That guy would even make milk taste manufactured. And I don't only mean the guitars, also Richie's voice sounds heavily processed. When I saw him play those acoustics for those charity gigs and when he announced he'd do it with an Indie label, I had really really high hopes of getting something right in between Stranger and Undiscovered Soul. I think I was wrong. If he makes it to Europe on his tour, all will be forgiven though :P

They are. I never had any high hopes for it period when he chose to put Ebbin on the wheel. It turns out that, like always, I am right. Like Becky said, it sounds like Bon Jovi, so it'll just be more songs about a guy trying to avoid his midlife crisis.

Salaam Aleikum,

Unfortunately I agree with that. I got the impression from the last few albums that some "lazy songwriting" was due to them being in a middling crises; for me it was very clear in this documentary when Jon was standing there saying "....or do I wanne stay here FOREVER?"

But from Jon's last interview I thought he seems much more at peace with himself. But I also thought that the new Richie album will turn out to be a good one. But from listening to those samples I'm starting to doubt that....
