Oh you've heard it in its entirety?

(cue the "no, but I know exactly what it'll sound like and it'll be shitty and my opinion is gospel so you're all wrong" response)

Am I the only one who is happy for Richie looking great and doing his own stuff? Am I the only one waiting till its released, not listening to any crappy snippets and decided to judge the album in its entirety?

I'm 100% with you!

In general, I hate all those snippets and leaks. They just take the fun away from that moment when you finally listen to the full album for the first time. I wonder how much I would've liked Chinese Democracy for example if I didn't know most of the songs a couple years before the actual release.

Richie collaborates and releases some dance-rock songs. Everyone freaks because it's not the Richie they love. Richie releases 4 snippets that sounds like his usual sound, closer to US than Stranger, but more modern. Everyone freaks because it's nothing new. I think people are angry because they expected it to rock harder than BJ's recent releases. Because if Richie was truly being held back by Jon he'd use the solo album to show he knows how to rock and Jon's dictatorship is a hindrance.

I may hate this album. I may love it. It's been 4 samples, 3 of which I dig. Every recent Jovi release since his year's of turmoil he's said writing is cathartic and a way to get the demons out but no recent Jovi albums have showed that. I'm hearing emotion for the first time in a while out of him in what I've heard and I can't wait to hear more.

EDIT: Rearrange the samples and swap the places of the third and forth. Notice how well the sound meshes with Hard times come easy? It's not that far from his sound. You can't make the argument "this solo album should be his chance to show a different sound" and then praise Undiscovered Soul when it's the same vibe.

Go Matt :) I couldn't agree more. And I happened to love Undiscovered Soul.

I'm sorry, did you say Indie ? You're not suggesting those songs fall in the indie genre are you ? :P

1. You've no idea what the album will sound like on the basis of four 10 second clips.

2. The purpose of the album was that Richie wanted to make a solo album. His album, his purpose. Don't confuse your desire for what the album would be with what the purpose of it was. That's unbelievably arrogant.

Lol, I'm not arrogant Butters. I'm just saying that both stranger and U. Soul were different from jovi albums. I'm not saying Richie ever put forth that his albums were MEANT to be different. I'm just saying that we sort of expect it, right ? so calm your horses.

Actually, listen to any 10 second snippet of any Bon Jovi album of the last 10 years and you'll have a pretty good idea of what it'll sound like. It's not as if their songs differ in production much as of lately.

Yeah, but what's the point of making a solo album if you're going to make it sound like anything you've released the past 10 years? The whole point of Stranger and Undiscovered Soul was to expand his horizon and show a side we hadn't seen of Richie before. This album has nothing new to offer apart from mediocre middle of the road stuff no one gives a shit about apart from a select few Richie obsessed Bon Jovi fans. There's a reason he chose Ebbin as a producer, guys like them are hired to make it more commercial, as opposed to more artistical.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

all I have to say to you is: I love that girl on your signature :D ah ah

Johny, you’re not alone at all. I am also very happy to see Richie happy, he looks great, fresh and healthy. That is very uplifting. I also haven’t checked those damn snippets and never will. I will wait for the release of the album too. There’s no greater feeling than having a brand new CD in your hands and listening to every single note for the first time, song by song. Especially from the artist one admires. Richie’s album is the thing I am excited in this whole year the most and I can’t wait to hear it – in its entirety!

The thing is, that negativity spreads much faster than positive thinking, and it’s much easier to criticize too. Funny thing is, that it’s already criticized, while the album is not even out there. How can someone make a judgment at this point is beyond me. Negativity is loud, while the positiveness is standing quiet on the side. It doesn’t mean it’s not there. Here’s something to think about: „Haters are losers pretending to be winners”. And that’s what we’ve been experiencing in this thread for the last few days from a couple of people.

But to tell you the truth, I don’t give a damn about it. Like I said, I don’t think in the last few years there has been anything I was so excited for as I am for Richie’s solo album. I can’t wait to hear his solo efforts after a decade, that actually led to the darkest moments of his life. I am glad he’s got those times behind him and I just feel he will express all that in his new music, lyrically and musically – and will begin the new bright chapter of his life, as a musician and as a person. And I will welcome anything he offers with open arms. It’s his album and he can do whatever he wants with it, whether it’s BJ like or something totally different. Whatever that will be, this is something that is in his heart right now, and that’s more than enough for me.
