This is actually a really good song. It's a few days since I listened to it and a while longer since I properly listened to it through decent earphones. I think the production's great. Love the drumming in it, much more interesting and appealing to listen to than Bon Jovi drumming over the last few albums. |

After now hearing the mastered version I think that is a great song and much better than I was anticipating from Richie.. I am now looking forward to obtaining the full album.

I really hope this album does well. With the free download today his marketing seems to be somewhat better than I expected. Hopefully he and his team can continue and build upon it by putting out a great video, a good viral campaign and hopefully getting some airplay. I'd love to switch on the Radio in the UK and hear Every Road Leads Home to You, so many bands have done well from getting a lot of airplay, especially on Radio 2. Train are massive here now after how bloody often Radio 2 played Hey Soul Sister and Drive By. It's amazing how the casual listener can be persuaded by hearing stuff on the radio like that, neither my mum or dad liked Hey Soul Sister when I asked them to listen to it but after it started appearing on the radio for a while they loved it, and are now massive Train fans. There's nothing to say Every Road couldn't do the same thing for Richie's popularity.

The song itself is okay, but the recording itself sounds compressed as hell and just muddy in general. Not really a complaint as I'll be blasting this record out my window the day it's released, but I wonder how much nicer it would sound if the recordings had a little more room to breathe.

First listen to anything from the new Sambora record today with the free download.
I do like it, although it doesn't hold a candle to anything off the first 2 albums, its nice and catchy and could do well at radio if they wanted it to. This may be Richies best chance at a bit more commercial success because, sad but true, the extra publicity from his personal problems. The downside to the song is the vocals- it was very obvious the amount of echo/reverb on his voice, a very JBJ trick. A pity, especially as I was listening to SITT and US soul today and his voice, and indeed the whole sound is very crisp. But its a decent song and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album, and hopefully get to hear it live. |
I got the free download and I liked it. It's catchy. The production isn't the best though, sometimes the vocal is buried in the music. I think it could easily get picked up by a station like The Pulse on Sirius XM. I still think that with this kind of marketing and with social media influence that this could be a more successful album than the first two.

I downloaded it. And first time when I heard it I love i, now it's a little boring but reason is probably that i listened it too much.
Production of this song is worst than his 2 cd and last BJ albums. Guitar should be much louder. Song is good. One of his best. |
I've downloaded the song and heard it for the first time, and well, that's what I was afraid of. This is the 'new' Bon Jovi kind of production. And I don't mean 'Crush' or 'Bounce', which was pretty decent. The new song's production make me feel like I was listening to 'The Circle' outtake. I was expecting something just a bit more traditional.
You see, what I like is Bon Jovi sound, not Coldplay meets U2.. So I'm sorry to say that I'm disappointed with this kind of pop. My fave part of it is like last 15 seconds with just an acoustic guitar. The whole song could sound like that and it would be so much better. But it's closed in the shell of production noises... |
I like that offered song a lot ..it's catchy. It's rather pop and I can see that some would want more *guitarist* involved but I am ok with it ...on this record Richie seems to be more of a singer than a guitarist. But it's still very good, at least to me .. Stranger (my fav) was a record from the beginning of the 90's I don't know it was fitting the era ...Today music is not the same.I totally see why some are disappointed but I am happy with what Richie did. What he did is more pop than expected but it is GOOD , It's enough for me ..I don't think too deep it's good .. I love it .. end of the story ... The whole atmosphere reminds me of the rant Patrick Stump had about being criticized of not doing the same music than FOB on his own .. he was so mad he sounded so frustrated (because he is a good and talented musician but seems not authorized to change direction) It's the same feeling about Richie ...I cannot help but think that fans are too demanding toward Richie solo work ... it's not like it's bad at all nor that he produces easy crafted stuff once a year for a decade neither (this is a reference to the usual bon jovi production-it's Richie solo not bon jovi ....)if he was flooding the market with his solo often then we could ask him to dig deeper and try harder instead of having a new baby every 15 months .. yes- but this solo is absolutely not that .. yes it is sounding very actual very 2012 but why not ... as long as it is good and moves me, then I am satisfied.

Finally the first mention on the site of his label.
http://www.dangerbirdrecords.com/new...own-september- |
Aerosmith release the new album 28TH august.
Initially would come out on September 4, but Aerosmith released their highly anticipated new album a week before, so it was a suicide out a week later. Sambora's album does not aim to make big sales, but by very independent company who is not stupid and will not throw away small sales safe and could lose due to lack of promotion against the giant aerosmith. So finally I see the logic delay of several weeks. |
^^^Aerosmith's album was pushed back to November.
|
Album is releasing Sept 5th in Japan and is avail for pre order now on CD Japan
|
Shit, always delay.

I just listened to ERLHTY for the first time, and actually I really quite like it, and lot more than either We Weren't Born To Follow or What Do You Got on first listen. It is pretty poppy but it's still got some heavier guitar to give it some edge, and some truly massive drum sounds and understated piano to give it a more epic feel ... actually, I think the production is pretty immaculate. It also seems a lot more heartfelt than a lot of the band's recent songs.
I haven't listened to anything else off the album and have tried not to read too much of what everyone else has been saying about it so as to go into it relatively fresh when it's release, but listening to that has made me quite excited for the rest of the album :p |

ahh, what a stupid cover!
|
I like the cover art but they really need to shoot their graphic designer for the placement of the artist/title text.
"Richie Sambora" gets totally lost as it's positioned too close to the line separating the cityscape from the roof. The "R" is lost in the mess of his pose as well. The design should have been developed a little further as it seems a bit unfinished to me. |
Good Cover.

As I’ve said about 30 pages back, I haven’t downloaded any of the leaked songs and still don’t intend to. I am glad to hear there’s more people doing the same. It looked first there aren’t too many of us, but now it turns out that it isn’t that bad.
But since the new single was sent officially I decided to download it and listen to the new song. I have to admit that I wanted to skip this too, and wait till September, but then I realized it will show up in the radio or MTV soon anyway, so there would be no chances to avoid it that long. There were no chances to avoid WWBTF before the release of TC too, and I also did not listen to any other song until November back then, except for the lead single (I hate snippets). Anyway, back to the song. I have to say that I absolutely love it. I think I have listened to it about 50 times so far, or more. It’s on a constant repeat when I drive to work and another few listens when I am back home. And still I am not bored with it. Not at all. I think it is miles better than HTCE, which as far as I remember was the lead single to US. I love the melody and the lyrics. It is so optimistic, so promising, so full of hope. Very simple and catchy, and sometimes a song needs to be just like that. It suits perfectly for the summer season with the sun and great weather outside the window. I love the piano work and the drums. Surprisingly guitar is the part that is kind of losing a bit as it sounds a little bit like one big noise, but I blame production for it, and I think it will sound much better during the live shows. And I actually am not so sure whether those effects in the vocals are a good decision, but my wife loves it, so it’s just a matter of taste probably. It’s not bad, but clear vocals would sound better in my opinion. I just love Richie’s voice, it’s timbre/colour (not sure how to say it in English), it’s roughness and the clearer it sounds the better for me. Solo is simple and short but does the job as it should. And I think the acoustic guitar at the end is just perfect with the clear vocals I love. Gives that extra touch and is a cherry on the cake for me. I always love the moment when I play and sing any BJ song on guitar for the first time, and it was no different this time. As a self taught guitarist myself if I enjoy playing the song, it automatically is taken to another level and for sure this one does that for me. Great to play by the camp fire or at home. And last but not least, usually the lead single is not my favourite song on any BJ album ( I think with exception of KTF and IML), which means there will be songs on the album that will be even better for me and will absolutely blow me away. Not that it surprises me because I felt from the very beginning this album will be special, but now my excitement for the record is even bigger. This song is a great introduction and a promise of what’s coming soon. So can’t wait for the rest. But this one is more than enough for me until September. It was 14 years so only 2 months away is like nothing compared to that :) |
Richie's latest tweet: " My record will be released all over the world. Special editions, photo books from the sessions, all kinds of stuff. "
Sounds good! |

BD was pulled early on Soundcloud and replaced with Nowadays so this doesn't hugely surprise me but it does bum me out.

Listened to the new free download for the first time today. Anyone think that the drums sound awful and kind of flat? (If that's the word I'm looking for) They just have no depth.
And for a guitar players solo album, this song doesn't highlight anything special. The guitar is barely heard over the 3 or 4 different layers of keyboards/synths I am hearing. And the guitar solo is well... Not a guitar solo I would expect from a guitar player making a solo album. I am more or less disappointed, I can easily wait for the new album. And I am now more or less convinced that it is not Jon holding Richie back through the past few albums, it has just been Richie being lazy. But you never know, there could be a few good songs on the upcoming album... But I can wait for September. |

Can't get why some people overreact over the fact that Every Road is no guitarmasturbation. Richie is a pop/rock artist, of course he wants to get some airing time on the radio, and to achieve that he has picked a song that suits todays radio. It's catchy, have a great chorus, not to long solo, maybe a little long though. I would imagine there will be some kind of "radio-edit" to be released for the radio stations.
But come on people, it's a first single from a pop/rock artist, what did you expect? You can't honestly say that a song like "Burn the Candle Down" would suit as a 1st single just because it has more gutiar work. Every Road is a perfect choice. Every Road & 7 Years Gone are the only songs I could see as singles. |
