I've said this before but I think Richie's voice has gone to pot. As has Jon's for that matter. Richie needs to recapture back that soul of 1991

That soul of 1991 was twenty years ago. When he was in his late 20's/early 30's

Bruce Springsteen, Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger have it still....

He also said in an interview that he prefers the vocal sound he achieved for US in '98 and that he's not overly fond of SITT cos it sounds like an 18-yr-old's vocals with no maturity... or words to that effect.

I highly doubt he could sound like his early 90s voice again any more than Jon could emulate his own vocals of 20 years ago so either way, it's not going to happen.

I think his voice has got weaker in general so it's certainly something he'll need to address if he is FINALLY going to get back in the studio and record some solo material worthy of his earlier efforts though.

Perfectly captulated - couldn't have said it better myself. Its a shame though...
