Who knows Kathleen, maybe this Bruce Springsteen band I'm going to see before Bad Name tomorrow might changed my mind about Springsteen still..

if it does, I'll totally go see the real thing.

At the risk of sounding corny:

Go see the real thing - Bruce is the last Man Standing

Enter at your own risk, mister
It might change the way you think
There's no dancers, there's no diamonds
No this boy he don't lip synch

Here's the last man standing
Step right up, he's the real thing
The last chance of a lifetime
Come and see, hear, feel, the real thing

I was at that show and it was a great moment :D

Tonight is the start of 4 nights here in NJ and NY. I have GA for the 2 Meadowlands shows but I am behind the stage at MSG. I took what I could get without paying more than face value for tickets.

My one "holy grail" song is The Promise which has been played full band 5 times over the last 35 years. It was just played in Washington DC on Sunday so I have hope that it might show up sometime in the next 4 nights.

So Bruce again tonight - whoohoo

I will write a review after the next few nights. I expected to write a review after the 2 Philly shows but then my son's cat died unexpectedly over the weekend and I have been a puddle of tears ever since. He was my cat first but couldn't get along with my older cat so he went to live with David.

I think last nights Bruce concert was the first one in all these years that I cried through. I'm hoping tonight is better.

I heard that Bruce's son is filling in for the big guy on sax. How is that?

No no it's Clarence nephew, Jake Clemons, that's on sax, together with the rest of the horn section and also Ed Manion on sax. From what I hear Jake's nailing it!

Oh no Kathleen! so sorry to hear about your cat. It is always devastating losing a pet. Hope last night went better although with the Clarence tribute I'm not so sure...

It was such a happy and joyous concert that it did go better. You can't be sad to Ramrod fortunately. And the Clarence tribute was well done but it didn't make me cry. If they had done it at my first show it would have because it was SO different. But this was my fourth show and I have come to love the new makeup of the band. Jake is really coming into his own and it's a pleasure to watch him rock out and thoroughly enjoy the whole process.

Good decision on Bruce's part to add many more people to the band. With just a 1:1 replacement it would have been much harder to accept. This way - it's a different show - no question.

I agree. Feels really good with the big horn section. I'm not sure how the shows here in Gothenburg will be. It can get very emotional with Clarence's Swedish family there and all.

Glad you had a great show yesterday. Looked really good on paper too.

Last night's show in MSG was simply over the top. Interestingly enough I have heard complaints about the setlist and many people thought the show was just mediocre. I am a long time fan and this was show #5 for me on this tour. I thought the show was awesome and yes - The Clarence tribute went very well.

Better yet those damn Clarence heads on a stick were GONE form the pit. I guess a few well placed remarks by a few journalists got their point across. That was really in poor taste.

People in the pit were bringing in pictures of Clarence's head on a stick (about 3 feet long) It was the creepiest thing I ever saw. There is a discussion about it over on Greasy Lake:

http://www.greasylake.org/the-circui...ds-on-a-stick/

The whole huge head on a stick thing I believe recently started in college basketball. Some guy started bringing random blown up headshots of people on a stick to wave at opposing fans as they made their foul shots. ESPN had a little segment on the guy. I guess this crap has now carried over to concerts as well.

Is there a face valse site for Springsteen tickets? I am looking for 1 standing ticket for the Cologne show?

Here in the US for arena shows - the face value is about $95.00 for the best seats or GA. I think the nosebleed seats are a bit cheaper. And if I recall correctly - it was about the same for the outdoor stadium shows. Bruce tries to keep his prices down fortunately for me since I go to multiple shows.

Thunderstrucker 04-11-2012 12:04 AM

Just been watching the Johnny 99 clip of April 4th and man do I like the sound of Jake Clemon's Sax. Real sharp, pure and just his own sound. What a joy to hear him play his parts in old songs. He certainly adds a lot to refreshing songs that always have been done a certain way.

I salute you,
TS

I have now seen 6 shows since the beginning of the tour and Jake has gone from being somewhat tentative to being confident and sounding wonderful. It has been nice to see the change. He is really starting to shine. You can tell that the band and the audience is encouraging him and he really has been responding.

And just my own opinion - the E Street Band with the horn section is one of the best sounding bands that I have heard - they are a joy to listen to. The rock band still forms the core (and sometimes the horns and the other singers are silent) and the core band is still tight as hell. Bruce appears to be at the top of his game both physically and vocally. He sounds and looks great and seems to have inexhaustible energy. Last night's show was over 3 hours - and he is 62. Go Bruce :D

I'm looking for one standing ticket for the Cologne show on May 27th (face value). The tickets are sold out on Eventim.de, the prices on eBay.de are sky high. I refuse to pay over 150 euro a ticket.

Unfortunately I'm unable to register on Greasy Lake, so I'm out of options. If anybody can help me out, that'd be great.

You can't register? Strange - I've been a member there for years. I can ask over there and on BTX. BTX is a ticket exchange on Backstreets - you should try to go there and read and register too.

I registered on Greasy Lake not long ago with no problem at all.

You can also register on Stone Pony London. They have a swap site there.

We also have a Swedish site, www.springsteen.se and we have a fix site there too. All face value.

I have the same problem. I didn't buy tickets for Cologne at first because I was looking for a new job. Now I have a job near Cologne and search desperately for tickets for the show.
The last tour you got easily tickets for every Bruce show in Germany. This time it is really strange...

I'm there! Vacation is already sorted. The rest is just details. ;)

(The only problem could be if Richie announces shows for the same dates. PLEASE don't let that be the case!)
