Bruce is the last person to see on my bucket list. But I probably wouldn't travel to see him.

Aloha !

If he'd play across the street here I'd consider that walk too much travelling.

I was watching Spirit In The Night from Pinkpop yesterday and I thought he sounded awefully out of breath - not a good performance at all.

Jon has gone in a completely different direction but on his best days he still puts on a hell of a show.

Gorgeous

My mind in the midlle of the show was : Hell this is JBJ hero, his idol sooo :)
Yeah i hate Jon's direction right now, but what the heel he is trying to be everywhere.....

I agree but his enthousiasm and atmosphere made it still a powerful performance.

Butters 06-19-2012 09:20 PM

Their longest show ever, apparently, last night clocking in at 3 hours and 48 minutes!!! Unbelievable. Hopefully they'll keep up this stamina until next month for the Dublin shows.

Thunderstrucker 06-20-2012 10:39 AM

And we all thought a 3 hour show was quite long. Bruce raised the bar this tour!
Spain got lucky with incredible sets!

I salute you,

Amazing he's still doing that.

I finish up work for the Summer tomorrow and was going to go to manchester and wing it but I can't find any reasonably priced accomodation and an 11 hour round drive doesn't appeal so I'll just have to wait until London :(

KeepTheFaith2211 06-22-2012 10:54 PM

Saw Bruce last night in sunderland. My brother and his girlfriend were going but he came off his bike. Hurt his knee but was alright. Gave me and my other brother the tickets. I had been saying all this month about how much I wanted to go but when I got in and found out I was pretty uninterested (that sounds bad). It was pissing down and it was at the stadium of light after all.

Basically...the guy is ****ing unreal. I've never seen anyone have as much fun on stage as he does. His interaction with the crowd is spot on, the band are really tight and they all pour every last drop of effort into it. Absolutely awesome concert. Not sure if I got anything special (I don't think I did) but here's the set. He played for about three hours and ten minutes.

Badlands
We Take Care Of Our Own
Wrecking Ball
Death To My Hometown
City Of Ruins
Spirit In The Night
Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street?
Jack Of All Trades
Youngstown
Muder Incorporated
Johnny 99
Working On The Highway
Shackled & Drawn
Waitin' On A Sunny Day
Promised Land
Point Blank
The River
The Rising
Out In The Street
Land Of Hope And Dreams/People Get Ready

We Are Alive
Thunder Road
Born To Run
Hungry Heart
Seven Nights To Rock
Glory Days
Dancing In The Dark
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out

Mongoose 06-22-2012 11:51 PM

Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street is fairly special in my opinion, but I've not been keeping an eye on set lists as I'm not going anywhere :(

Youngstown Muder Incorporated

Love that combo, as seen to best effect in the Live in NYC DVD. Did Nils do the ace solo in Youngstown?

I was there too, and your review is spot on Sir! I've seen Bruce once before but with his Seager Sessions band, not the E Street band, and whilst it was very good it didn't compare to last nights show!

Yes the guy is fcukin' unreal :) You got some awesome songs, the Youngstown/Murder Incorporated duo is awesome. You also got Working on the Highway, Point Blank (lucky bastard) , The River and Seven Nights to Rock - all of which are in addition to the main set. It may have been raining but still - at 3 hours and 10 minutes - you got a hell of a show.

Mongoose 06-24-2012 12:57 PM

Oops, didn't spot point blank ;o

"Working on the highway" and "The River" are constantly in the european setlists. Anyway I take "The River" everytime - such a classic. ;)

"Seven nights to rock" fits perfectly in the encore slot. In Cologne this song in combination with "Dancing in the dark" was so much fun. Look at this:

I have to add that Jake is such a great musician and showman. Dancing, singing and playing to every single song with such a passion.

Thunderstrucker 06-24-2012 02:37 PM

The River is in the set constantly, Working on the Highway isn't.
The River was a very good performance and I was thrilled to finally hear it live.

I salute you,
TS

Oh I couldn't agree more. I've listened to Bruce and only Bruce since Thursday. I have been bitten by the bug!

DaveK 06-25-2012 01:30 AM

set up the v+hd box to record the isle of wight to find out that they weren't showing the Bruce set until after the programme was scheduled to end and they only showed 4 songs. so annoyed with skyarts.

Jim Bon Jovi 06-25-2012 12:08 PM

It's live TV on a massive scale so you've got to give them a bit of leeway with it.

Personally I love the fact they chose not to go with the obvious hits and it's got me G'd right up for London.

If you taped the full thing and you're a fan, they show the whole of Noel gallagher's set at the start and he's brilliant.

KeepTheFaith2211 06-30-2012 05:54 PM

What does everyone think of the first album? I can't stop listening to 'Does This Bus Stop...?' and 'Lost In The Flood'.

hometownboy 06-30-2012 08:11 PM

Greetings is my favourite Bruce album!

I think Greetings is a favorite for me because it was the first one - not necessarily because it's the best album. That said however, when you look at the tracklist and you look at what gets played a lot at live shows these days you will see that it holds up quite well.

Blinded by the Light
Growin' Up
Mary Queen of Arkansas
Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?
Lost in the Flood
The Angel
For You
Spirit in the Night
It's Hard to Be a Saint in the City

Growin Up, Bus Stop, Lost in the Flood, For You, Spirit and Saint in the City all get played in relatively frequent rotation (at least here in Jersey they do). That's 6 songs out of 9 played from the first album which was released in 1973. And Blinded by the Light was a hit by another band but I've always loved it. Lost in the Flood remains one of my all time favorites though.

I found out that I did not have the Greetings album of Bruce Springsteen. When I search for it I find 2 different versions.
The first one has the following tracklist:
Blinded By The Light (5:04)
Growin' Up (3:05)
Mary Queen Of Arkansas (5:21)
Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street? (2:05)
Lost In The Flood (5:17)
Angel (3:24)
Respectable - (Studio) (4:40)
Spirit In The Night (4:59)
It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City (3:13)

The second one has the following tracklist:
Blinded By The Light
Growin Up
Mary Queen Of Arkansas
Does The Bus Stop At 82nd Street?
Lost In The Flood
Angel, The
For You
Spirit In The Night
Its Hard To Be A Saint In The City

Does anyone know why the difference is track 7? (For you / respectable)

I salute you,
TS

Kathleen 07-02-2012 06:42 PM

Hmm...I know of no Springsteen track called Respectable. I searched the database at the main site and still came up with nothing. Is it possible that it's a miss-print or a typo? For You is the track that I Have on my album at that place.

Never heard of this title either. The only version I know is the second list.

Must be a typo then. Wonder where it came from though.

Little voice, sore feet, very little sleep....

Totally worn out after the 2 shows in Paris - and what shows we got!! 1st night was soooo hot both outside the venue and even hotter inside due to the air con not working as they had power cuts during the afternoon and they were afraid that the power would go during the show (which it luckily didn't). Great show running on 3,24 I think with a beautiful rendition of Independence Day on piano. We waved to Bruce's mom and sister as they entered the arena. His mom was standing/dancing to all the fast songs. :-)

The second show just blew our mind with a set of Something in the night, Incident.., For you on Piano!! and Racing in the streets. I've dreamed about hearing For you in any version and when I heard the first few notes I just cracked and my tears started rolling. Very emotional.
3,37!! for this show. Incredible.

Can't wait until Gothenburg!!

Thunderstrucker 07-07-2012 02:59 AM

Paris indeed got some awesome shows! I envy you. All I got was a shot at a festival! You saw them in their best shape!

Steven van Zandt wrote on Twitter to his followers to bring water with them if they were going to the Bercy-concerts cause of the airco not working.

Never felt like fainting?

I salute you,
TS

asok80 07-07-2012 03:02 AM

Yeah we really got a feel of how Bruce feels when he sweats on stage....we were just as soaking.

Emil 07-07-2012 04:24 PM

The second Paris set is ridiculous. Holy cow. I have shows coming up in Prague, Vienna and London next week. So stoked.
