I'm going to ignore all soundbites about the record being 'a big rock album' or 'guitar-driven' as they very rarely ring true. I'm happy to wait and see. For the first time in their career I have pretty low expectations for the new release - hopefully the guys surprise me.

He says John Shanks is almost the fifth member of the band as they been working for 4 albums now together. What a big compliment for Hugh that must be to hear that someone who has worked with the band for 4 albums is considered the fifth bandmember and the bass-player isn't.
Also I am glad that Jon repeats once again all the rewards he won with writing the soundtrack for young guns because I honestly did not know that as he hardly mentions it anywhere.....

Jon is not someone I relate to anymore. Not at all.

He still lives too much on old glory it seems. Every time in interviews he mentions how succesful the things were he has done but they all are quite a while ago. For me, the more he brags about past successes, the more it defines how much they lack it now. Only the persons interviewing them are impressed, their fans know that tune by now. Every interview is the same and they get more boring over time as well. It is as if they don't need to be doing great things anymore because they have done this and that back in the time the dinosaurs still roamed the earth. What About Now? They couldn't have found a better title for their upcoming album.
