R.I.P. Richie's golden voice 1983-2002 :(

Aloha !

For those of you doubting how many studio effects went into Richie's voice to make him sound more decent on the record, just listen to the bridge at 3:08.

He has absolutely no range anymore in the higher parts and where he's found a way of dealing with it on Prayer by just shouting the words, during Every Road it's quite obvious how the clearity on the record is not how it's actually been sung in the studio.

It's going to be interesting to hear him sing older solo songs, Stranger In This Town was a shoutfest the last few times and I reckon pretty much everything from Stranger is out of his reach now. I'm sure it'll improve once he goes on tour in October when his voice has warmed up a bit but his hoarse tone is even in the lower regions of his voice. A real shame, and these are all the direct causes from too many cigarettes and too many beers.

R.I.P. Richie's golden voice 1983-2002 (done to be controversial but true nonetheless).

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Jesus, that was brutal. It fell right apart at the solo too.

Indeed, he couldn't even get the basic chords right, and with that I don't mean hitting the wrong chord, I mean improvising on open chords in other positions than just the third fret. He went completely in the wrong direction and I honestly don't understand how he can make such a mistake. His attempts at doing a solo on Prayer went horribly wrong as well.

I don't like his performance this time.
Beside the technical aspects, the performance is kind of unemotional.

It's garbage all around. I found this from a facebook friend and almost vomited. I haven't heard any of the Richie songs yet, this being the first full track I've listened to. So far I am completely underwhelmed about the future release, especially if this is going to be a future single.

I'm sure Richie will improve in the next shows. I have seen worse moments of Jon.

Definitely Every Road Leads Home to You great song.

Not going to put a lot of stock into this. Maybe the first time he has ever performed the song live. He clearly doesn't even know the song yet, as he's constantly looking down at the lyrics or music sheet.

Can't believe you all are talking about Richie like that, you must not be true fans. I thought he was great. People give him a break.

Ah, one of the good old "you must not be true fans" people. It's been some time since we've had one of you people on here. Couldn't find your login details for Backstage?

Technically he never was the best singer. I just remind you of a tv show on NBC during Undiscoverend soul where he sang some acoustic songs where his voice failed during one song.
